Easy Aloo Chaat Recipe / Mumbai Aloo Chaat Recipe

This is one delicious and easy chaat recipe which you can rustle up in few minutes. It is not like your normal aloo chaat, it is fried with few masala to make it even more tasty. I loved it to the core..

I added few masala to the potatoes and tossed it gently, then pan fried it. Then i topped it with plain yogurt and tamarind dates chutney and some sev. You can add green chutney as well to make it easy.

Serves : 2


Baby Potatoes - 10 
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Water as needed to cook potatoes

For Marination:
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Powder / Jeera Podi - 1 tsp
Amchoor Powder / Dry Mango Powder - 1 tsp
Besan / Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu - 2 tblspn
Salt a pinch
Water - 2 to 3 tblspn
Oil - 2 tblspn for pan frying

For Topping:
Thick Curd / Yogurt - 3/4 cup (Recipe here)
Dates & Tamarind Chutney as needed (Recipe here)
Cumin Powder / Jeera Podi - 1 tsp
Chat Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Sev / Oma podi as needed for topping (Recipe here)
Salt a pinch


Take baby potatoes in a pressure cooker. Cover with water, add salt. Cover and pressure cook for 3 whistle. Simmer the pot for 10 mins. Turn off the flame and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker and drain the potatoes. Let this cool down, peel them.

Take cooked baby potatoes and halve them. Take them in a bowl, add in all ingredients for marination and mix well. Heat some oil in a pan and fry them till golden. Set aside.

Take curd in a bowl, add little salt and mix well.

Take a plate and place the potatoes, spoon your yogurt mix over it, spoon some chutney and top with sev.

Serve immediately.

Lets start by cooking the potatoes..I used baby potatoes

Cover with water

add some salt so the salt goes into the potatoes

cook them till soft

drain them and cool them

Cut them in half and take it in a bowl

add tiny bit of salt

add in some cumin powder

Add in some amchoor powder

and little chilli powder

Add in gram flour / besan

Add in little water

mix well

heat oil in a pan

add in the potatoes

toss well and cook till golden

now it is all crispy, set aside

take unsour thick yogurt in a bowl (recipe here)

add pinch of salt

mix well till creamy

Now take a pretty plate

arrange the potatoes

spoon over the yogurt mix

Sprinkle with little cumin powder

and little chat masala powder

spoon some chutney

Dollop it over the potatoes

top with some crispy sev..Recipe here

Serve immediately
