Holi festival is around the corner and i decided to share few recipes for you to make on that special occasion. Even though we don’t celebrate holi, i would love to celebrate each and every occasion through food. You can check out my holi recipe collection here.
There are so many ways they make mathri, Today i am sharing you a methi version and it is really easy to make and it taste really crispy..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Resting Time : 15 mins
Cooking Time : 2 to 3 min per batch
Makes : 12 to 15 mathri
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1 cup
Kasuri Methi Leaves / Dried Fenugreek Leaves – 1 tblspn
Carom Seeds / Ajwain – 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper – 1/2 tsp crushed coarsely
Ghee / Clarified Butter – 3 tblspn
Salt to taster
Water as needed
Take all the ingredients except water in a bowl and rub with your fingers to incorporate ghee in the flour.
Add water slowly and knead it to a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 mins.
Now divide the dough into small balls and roll it out. Now flatten it out and make a indention in the center. Now use a fork to prick holes in the mathri.
Heat oil for deep frying, drop mathri in hot oil and fry it in a medium heat oil till golden.
Remove it and drain in some paper towel.
Cool it down and store it in a air tight container.

|add in kasuri methi leaves|
|add in carom seeds|
|add in salt|
|add in crushed pepper|
|add in ghee|
|rub it in the flour|
|add water slowly|
|knead to a dough..let it rest for 15 mins|
|divide it into small balls|
|take a ball|
|make a indent in the center|
|prick with fork|
|drop in oil and fry on medium heat till golden|
|let it cook slowly|
|fry till golden, drain onto some paper towel|
|Store it in a air tight container for a week|
