    Small Potato Biryani Recipe with step by step pictures. Spicy and delicious biryani made using baby potatoes and spices.

    Baby Potato Biryani

    This is my version of the famous baby potato biryani recipe. I make this biryani in many ways, one version is i add the potatoes into the biryani while i cook this. But this is my favourite way of cooking it, i love the crispy potatoes with the coconut milk rice..Delicious.

    Baby Potato biryani Preparation

    • Take cooked baby potatoes in a bowl, you can peel them if you need. Now add in all the marination ingredients and mix really well. Set aside till you make the biryani. 
    • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add in all the whole spices and let them sizzle.
    • Now add in onions, green chillies and saute this till golden.
    • Now add in ginger garlic paste and cook for a min or so.
    • add in tomatoes and cook till mushy.
    • Now add in all the spice powders and salt and mix well.
    • Add in yogurt and mix well, cook till it is well combined.
    • Now add in coconut milk and water and bring it to a boil.
    • Add in drained rice and mix well. Cover and simmer for 15 mins or so. Now let the pressure go by itself. Open the cooker and fluff the rice.
    • Now heat a tblspn of oil in a pan, add in the baby potatoes and saute them till golden.
    • Now add this to the rice and mix well.
    • Serve with raita.

    Spicy and delicious baby potato biryani recipe made in a pressure cooker in one-pot. This is simple and tasty small potato biryani.

    Ingredients

    • Basmati Rice - 1 cup
    • Coconut Milk - 1 cup
    • Curd / Yogurt - ½ cup
    • Water - ½ cup
    • Ghee - 1 tblspn
    • Oil - 1 tblspn
    • Cinnamon / Pattai - 2 cm
    • Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Cardamom / Yelakai - 3
    • Cloves / Krambu - 3
    • Bay Leaf - 1
    • Black Stone Flower / Kal Paasi -1 piece
    • Star Anise - 1
    • Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
    • Tomato - 2 chopped finely
    • Green Chilli - 1 slit
    • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
    • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    • Garam Masala Powder - 2 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • For Marination:
    • Baby Potatoes - 15 cooked and peeled
    • Yogurt / Curd - ½ cup
    • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
    • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
    • Salt to taste

    Instructions

    Baby Potato Biryani Step by Step Pictures

    Take all the ingredients
     
     
    take some boiled baby potatoes, i didn't bother to peel it completely
     
     
    add in yogurt
     
     
    salt and spice powders
     
     
    mix well ..Set this aside..
     
     
     
    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker..add in whole spices
     
     
    let it sizzle for a min
     
     
    add in onions and chillies
     
     
    saute till golden
     
     
    add in ginger garlic paste and saute well
     
     
    add in tomatoes
     
     
    cook till mushy
     
     
    add in spice powders
     
     
    salt and mix well
     
     
    add in yogurt
     
     
    cook till it is well combined
     
     
    add in coconut milk
     
     
    and some water
     
     
    mix well and bring this to a boil
     
     
    once it boils add in rice and mix well..Now pressure cook this done

     

    Cook

     

    Now it is done..fluff the rice

     

    now in a small pan, heat a tbsp of oil, add potatoes in
     
     
    fry till golden
     
     
    add it to the rice
     
     
    Serve
