    Fried Moong Dal Recipe

    Fried Moong Dal recipe also known as moong dal namkeen with step by step pictures. You just require split yellow moong dal, chat masala, salt and oil to prepare this recipe. It is crunchy and tasty.

    Fried Moong Dal

    This is hubby's favourite, whenever we go shopping he never miss to pick a packet or two of this. It is crunchy and tasty. Plus it is healthy as well. I decided to try it at home and it is pretty easy as well.

    The main thing is you have to soak the dal for a good 3 to 4 hours so it swells up nicely. I flavoured this with chat masala and salt, you can add chilli powder as well. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

    About Moong Dal Namkeen

    Crispy moong dal or fried moong dal is a popular snack from haldirams. This taste so delicious with a cup of tea or coffee. All you need is moong dal. Dal is not only used to make simple moong dal, you can make delicious snack too.

    You can flavour this as per your liking.

    Ingredients

    • Split Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - 2 cup
    • Chat Masala Powder to taste
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil for deep frying

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)Take dal in a bowl and wash well.

    2)Wash the dal really well and allow them to soak for 4 hours.

    3)Once the dal is soaked.

    4)Strain them and spread it on a clean towel to dry.

    5)Heat oil for deep frying, drop moong dal in and fry till the bubbles stops from oil.

    6)The colour of the dal should turn slightly golden.

    7)Strain this using a slotted spoon.

    8)Remove this to a paper towel lined plate. Let them sit till excess oil is absorbed.

    9)Take the dal in a bowl. Now sprinkle salt and chat masala to taste, toss well.

    10)You can add chilli powder or any of your favorite flavouring too.

    11)mix well.

    12)Cool it and store it in an air tight container.

    13)Enjoy.

    • 3 cups Split Yellow Moong Dal
    • 1 tablespoon Chat Masala Powder
    • 1 teaspoon Salt
    • Oil for deep frying

    Instructions
     

    • Wash and soak moong dal for 4 hours, drain them and spread it on a clean towel to dry.
    • Heat oil for deep frying, drop moong dal in and fry till the shh sounds stops from oil. Drain it.
    • Now sprinkle salt and chat masala to taste, toss well.
    • Cool it and store it in a air tight container.
