மாங்காய் கோஸ் / Instant Mango Pickle Recipe / Mango Raita – Side dish for Curd Rice

 I made this for the festive thali for blogging marathon. This is my favorite one with curd rice.. love it all time..Amma makes this often, but she won’t sauté the mango, but I love it to be sauted. This is so cooling and can be had on its own too..

I make this pickle more often. Somedays i dont add curd, sometimes i increase the sugar level and spice level, so it taste like sweet and spicy. Totally yummy. All the ingredients is to taste you can adjust it to your taste.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 10 mins
Serves : 2 to 3

Ingrediants:
Raw Mango – 1 chopped finely
Curd / Yogurt– 1 tblspn
Salt to taste
Sugar – 2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tblspn or to taste
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku -1 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Oil- 1 tblspn
Method:
Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard and curry leaves and let it splatter.
Now add in mango and sauté for a min. Add salt, sugar and chilli powder and mixwell.
Now remove this for a bowl. Add curd and mix well..
Serve with curd rice.
Pictorial:
Take all your ingrediants..You need some
chilli powder too..
Wash a nice firm green mango
Chop it up finely
Crackle mustard and curry leaves in oil
add mango
add salt and sugar
add chilli powder
and mix well
transfer to a bowl
add some curd
and mix well
Serve..This is a updated picture..

    Hi, I'm bookmarking this because it looks and sounds so good. Two questions: is curd yogurt or something more like ricotta? Also, I can't get curry leaves here – would a pinch of curry powder be a good thing to do? If you can, please reply to me at [email protected].

    @StephenCThanks for your comment..Curd is Yogurt, it is not ricotta or something like that. Use yogurt.

    If you can't get curry leaves , just skip that..Don't use curry powder because curry powder is entirely different one.
