Ladies Finger Tomato Kuzhambu Recipe – Vendaikkai Thakkali Curry Recipe with step wise pictures.

This fragrant spicy ladies finger curry taste amazing with a bowl of hot rice or roti. This not only taste amazing but is very nutritious too.

Ladies Finger Tomato Kuzhambu Recipe - Vendaikkai Thakkali Curry Recipe

This fragrant spicy ladies finger curry taste amazing with a bowl of hot rice or roti. This not only taste amazing but is very nutritious too.

Ingredients

  • Ladies Finger - 10 chopped
  • Tomato - 3
  • Green Chilli - 3 slit
  • Curry leaves a handful
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tblsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tblsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel seed powder - 1 tsp

FOR GRINDING:

  • Coconut -3/4 cup
  • Small Onion / Shallot - 5 to 6
  • Garlic - 3 cloves

FOR SEASONING:

  • Coconut Oil - 2 tblsp
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves a handful

Instructions

  • Take tomatoes in a earthernware pot. Add spice powders, chillies and curry leaves. Add salt and mix well. Crush tomatoes using your hands. Add water.
  • Now add in ladies finger and cook till it is cooked.
  • Now add in the ground coconut masala and boil for 5 more mins.
  • Take it off the heat.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard and curry leaves. Pour this over the kulambu and mix well.
  • Serve.

Pictorial:

1)Take tomatoes in a earthernware pot

2)Add in chillies and curry leaves

3)Add in salt and turmeric powder

4)Add chilli powder and coriander powder

5)Add in fennel seed powder

6)Mix well using your hands

7)Add water

8)Add ladies finger

9)Put it on heat

10)Bring it to a boil.

11)Cook till ladies finger is cooked

12)Take coconut in a blender

13)Add in onion and garlic

14)Grind to a smooth paste

15)Add it into the curry

16)Mix well

17)Cook for 2 to 4 mins

18)Done

19)Heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves

20)Pour it into the curry

21)Mix well

22)Serve
