Mumbai Tawa Pulao Recipe / Tava Pulav Recipe

This recipe is a popular street food in Mumbai…This recipe calls for only one spice powder that is Pav Bhaji masala…I used my homemade pav bhaji masala, you can use store bought as well..

Vegetable Cashew Pulao

This recipe gets all its flavour from two ingredients, pav bhaji masala and chilli garlic paste. Chilli garlic paste can be frozen for more than 6 months. So make them, store it in freezer and use them whenever you need them. Other than those, this recipe is pretty easy to make..

Preparation Time : 15 to 20 mins
Cooking Time : 15 to 20 mins
Serves : 4

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice – 1 cup
Onions -1 chopped finely
Tomato – 2 chopped finely
Capsicum -1 chopped
Green Peas -1 cup ( I used frozen)
Green chilli – 1 chopped finely
Homemade Pav Bhaji Masala – 2 tblpsn (RECIPE HERE)
Homemade Chilli Garlic Paste – 3 tblspn (RECIPE HERE)
Salt to taste
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Butter – 4 tblspn
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:

Wash basmati rice, soak it for 30 mins. Bring lots of water to boil, add salt to it. Add in rice and cook for 7 to 8 mins till it is done. Drain and set aside. Leave it to cool completely.

In a kadai add butter add in chilli garlic paste and cook till oil separates.

Add in the Onions,Green chilli, tomatoes and cook till it turns mushy.

Add in salt and little sugar and mix well.

Add in the pav bhajji masala and mix well.

Add in peas and capsicum stir for 2 min.

Add in the cooked rice and mix well until the masala coats each rice.

Serve hot with any raita.

Boil some basmati rice in lots of salted water and drain them…

Set aside to cool
Now take your other ingredients
Melt a good amount of butter in the kadai
add in chilli garlic paste (RECIPE HERE)
saute well
cook till oil separates
add in onions, green chillies and tomatoes
sprinkle little salt
saute well
cook till the tomatoes turn mushy
add little sugar
and some pav bhaji masala (recipe here)
mix well
cook for few more mins 
add in capsicum and peas
mix well 
add in rice
toss well
cook for few more mins

    THe final presentation of the rice is dark in colour. whereas when u added rice to the mixture in the tava it is pale . pl explain if u have added any colouring agent to get the dark colour.

    @Pushpa Kannanno it is because of lighting in my camera. You will get that colour from the red chilli paste.

    Can it be prepared for travel? Tat is, will it stay good for one day? And can i prepare using jeera rice. By cooking rice separately like basmati n using same way. Answer fast pls.going to prepare now
