Nutella bread was on my mind for quite a long time, ever since one of my viewer requested me for it. As days pass by i actually forgot about it. But ever since hubby got me two huge jars of nutella i was looking for new recipes to try using those. And the first thing that came to me is the nutella bread.

I searched online for ideas and so many beautiful shapes of bread catched on my eye. I decided to try few of those. The first thing what is did is made a batch of my fool proof sweet bread dough and divided it accordingly so i can try three of the famous shaped bread. One of the shape is this one, i also made the most popular nutella flower bread and nutella braided bread. Will be sharing it separate posts.
Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Rising Time : 2 hours
Baking Time : 15 mins
Makes : 15 buns

Ingredients:

All Purpose Flour – 3 cups + extra for dusting
Unsalted Butter – 1/2 cup melted
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Salt -1/2 tsp
Dry Yeast – 1.5 tsp
Warm Water – 1/4 cup
Warm Milk – 3/4 cup to 1 cup
Nutella as needed
Egg or Milk for egg wash

Method:

Take yeast, 1 tsp of sugar in a bowl. Add in 1/4 cup of warm water and set aside for 5 mins till it foams up.

Take flour, sugar, salt in a bowl and mix well using a fork.

Make a well in the center, pour the yeast mix in, milk, melted butter and mix using the fork till it clumps to the fork.

Now start kneading the dough for around 5 to 10 mins till it really smooth and supple. When you press the dough using your finger, it should bounce back.

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and set aside for an hour or hour and half till the dough is doubled in size.

Now take it out and punch back the air. Knead it again.

Now divide into small balls.

Take a ball, flatten it and roll it lightly into a circle. Spread some nutella over it. Bring the sides and pinch the ends together.

Now roll it into a elongated oval shape carefully. Make slits in the center.roll it carefully and bring both the ends together, this will create a pattern on the slit.

Arrange it in a parchment lined baking tray. Cover and set aside for 30 more mins.

When the bread is rising, Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and oil it well.

Now crack open a egg in a bowl, add few spoons of water to it and whisk well using a fork. Brush this egg wash over the buns.

Now bake it in a preheated oven for 15 mins.

Remove it and let it cool.

Serve warm.

it used to happen to me too before. did the yeast turn foamy while proofing???? if NOT, then the yeast smell would be there throughout no matter what the brand. the yeast must turn foamy while proofing, then only it will ferment well or else it will be a disaster. I solved the problem myself. try it this way. hope this helps

I made this for myself as a new learning on my birthday, yesterday. It was a superhighway and I am directing everyone to you blog post now. Some changes, used wholemeal flour and plain milk wash. So the dough was stickier and less Brown
