    About Oreo M&M Cookie Bars

Oreo and M&M cookie bars are soft, chewy treats that are baked and sliced into bars. It is made with flour, butter, eggs, sugar, milk along with crushed oreos and M&Ms. These bars bring together the best of both things like classic sandwich cookies with colorful M&M candy that burst in every bite. Looks pretty just like my M&M cookies and Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies.

These cookie bars are baked until soft and slightly gooey in the center and loaded with M&M in every bite. The oreos slightly soften in the oven but still hold some crunch, while the M&M stay crispy and add a pop of color and sweetness throughout.

You can switch in any flavour of oreo you like from strawberry oreo, mint oreo, red velvet oreo or swap with other cookies that suit your taste. You can check my Homemade Oreo Recipe & my Oreo Chocolate chip cookies.

These bars are the ultimate dessert that requires no electric beater or stand mixer, all together can be combined in a bowl and it takes around 30 minutes to complete. It tastes absolutely delicious and perfect for kids, parties, or snacking at home.

Brown sugar : Brown sugar provides a rich color and flavour to the bar. The molasses in this gives a deep caramel taste and keeps the bars moist for long.

Unsalted butter : It helps to create a soft, chewy interior with slight crispy edges like a classic cookie bar.

Egg : Eggs used as a binding and leavening agent. For eggless versions, use flax eggs or yogurt.

Vanilla extract : Vanilla adds a powerful flavour booster that enhances the taste of oreo, M&M's in the bar.

Oreo cookies : Oreo cookies are one of the fun star elements in this recipe. Crush the oreos to give extra crunch and creaminess to the bar. You can swap with homemade chocolate sandwich cookies for healthier options.

M&M's : M&M's are the star ingredient that adds color, crunch and pop up of flavour throughout the bar. Makes the bar visually fun to the kids and adults. You can substitute it with chocolate chips, reese'e chocolate or crushed candy bites.

No need to worry. Just mix with local candies like gems or add chocolate chips or other candy bars etc.

    Q. Can I add white sugar instead of brown sugar ?

Yes, you can but the bars will be less moist and chewy. But the molasses in the brown sugar gives the perfect texture and is best to use.

Aarthi, I tried this today using demerara sugar and the outcome was like that of an unrisen cake. Is it supposed to be crunchy or chewy and cakey? I baked at 180 for approx 25 mins and when i found it slightly on the softer side, baked for 8 mins more. Taste was good.
