    Ragi Murukku Recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is made with ragi flour which is very healthy. It turned out crispy and tastes delicious.

    Ragi Murukku 

    In our place, diwali means it is murukku. Each year amma makes two types of murukku, mullu murukku and thenkuzhal. These are our staple. But as a food blogger, i like to explore..So each year i make different types of murukku which gave a whopping 11 murukku recipe to choose from..This one is my recent discovery, it is made with ragi flour so it is healthy as well.

    Ingredients for Ragi Murukku

    • Ragi Flour / Finger Millet Flour - 1 cup
    • Rice Flour - ½ cup (Recipe here)
    • Roased Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai - ¼ cup powdered
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi 1 pinch
    • Sesame Seeds - 1 tsp
    • Butter or Ghee - 2 tbsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil for Deep frying
    • Water as needed

    How to Make Ragi Murukku

    1. Take ragi flour in a dry pan, roast it lightly till raw smell leaves from it. Take it in a bowl.
    2. Add all the ingredients in a bowl except water. Mix well.
    3. Slowly add in water and knead to a soft dough.
    4. Heat oil for deep frying.
    5. Put this in a idiyappam press with thenkuzhal achu. Press to form small murukku.
    6. Drop in hot oil and fry till the shh, sound stops in the oil.
    7. Drain and allow it to cool down.
    8. Store it in a air tight container.
    9. This will stay good for more than 15 days.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Ragi Flour / Finger Millet Flour
    • ½ cup Rice Flour
    • ¼ cup Roasted Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai powdered

    Ragi Murukku Step by Step

     
    Take all your ingredients
     
     
    Take roasted gram dal in a blender
     
     
    powder finely
     
     
    Take ragi flour in a dry pan
     
     
    roast till nice aroma comes from this,,it will take around 2 to 3 mins
     
     
    remove to a bowl
     
     
    add in rice flour
     
     
     roasted gram dal flour
     
     
    salt goes in
     
     
    add in butter or ghee
     
     
    add in asafoetida
     
     
    sesame seeds
     
     
    mix well
     
     
    now the butter is evenly mixed in
     
     
    add in water slowly
     
     
    make a soft dough
     
     
    Take your murukku press
    fill the dough 
     
     
    press to form murukku
     
     
     
     
     
    drop in hot oil
     
     
    fry till the bubbles subsides in oil
     
     
    drain it
     
     
    Cool it and enjoy
