    Peanut Ladoo Recipe

    Peanut ladoo is a traditional Indian sweet made using two main ingredient one is roasted peanuts and other one is jaggery. It is a quick, healthy and protein rich sweet treat which is popular during festivals like Ganesh chaturthi, Krishna Jayanthi and Diwali.

    These no cook peanut laddu are energy boosting snacks which is perfect for both the kids and elders. This recipe doesn't contain ghee so it also comes under vegan snacks. This peanut ladoo is an best option for people who are looking for refined sugar free sweets because it is made with jaggery.

    Peanut Ladoo

    This is a two ingredient peanut ladoo, it taste almost like a dry form of peanut butter. So good and so healthy. if you have roasted peanut, you can use them as it is, but i like to roast them for a min or so so it gets really nutty. This is a protein rich ladoo, great for kids.     About Peanut ladoo

    These Peanut ladoo holds a special place in Indian kitchens because it is simple and it is a wholesome sweet made with our everyday kitchen staples. This traditional sweets is mainly made during winter months because peanuts and jaggery are known to generate warmth in our body.

    These Ladoos are considered as a good source of energy for growing kids and nursing mothers because of its rich nutritional values. Peanut ladoos are made in a bulk and can be stored in an airtight container which is perfect for anytime snacks.

    Why this recipe work?

    1)Peanut ladoos mare made using minimal ingredients. Only peanuts and jaggery are needed. 

    Why I love this recipe - These ladoos are very budget friendly sweet. It uses simple and easily available ingredients with no fancy additions. Making this ladoos are mess free. No sticky sugar syrup, deep frying or lengthy cooking involved. I love this because of the guilt free indulgence. It doesn't contain refined sugar. These Ladoos can be enjoyed as breakfast bite, post meal sweet or even mid day snack.

    2) These Ladoos are easily customizable. The taste can be enhanced with cardamom , sesame seeds or  even dry ginger powder.

    3) This ladoo are perfect for busy cooking. It only takes less than 15 mins from start to finish.

    Ingredients

    Peanuts: This is the main ingredient. It has good fats and proteins. Which gives energy.

    Jaggery: It is a natural sweetener and it is healthier than sugar. It gives rich, sweet taste and adds some iron to the ladoos.

    Hacks

    • Use skinned roasted peanuts to save time. No need to roast and peel separately.
    • Pulse the peanuts instead of grinding continuously to avoid releasing too much oil.
    • Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavour and this balance the sweetness.
    • If the mixture turns oily chill ot for 10-15 mins before shaping into ladoos.
    • If the mixture is too dry to bind add 1-2 teaspoon of warm jaggery syrup or honey.
    • Use cookie scoop or spoon for even side ladoos

    You need peanuts and jaggery for this
    Even though i used roasted peanuts, i like to roast them for few mins on a dry pan
    take the peanuts in a dry pan
    roast them lightly
    Now it is done
    Cool this down and take it in a blender
    powder them roughly
    add in jaggery
    powder again
    now it is well blended
    remove to a bowl
    take small portion
    shape it into ladoo
    like this
    done

    Expert tips

    • Use a heavy bottomed pan to roast peanuts evenly without burning.
    • Always let the peanuts cool before grinding to prevent excess oil 
    • For best result use soft jaggery that blends easily with the peanuts.
    • Don't over blend the mixture of it may turn into peanut butter instead of dry mixture.
    • Store the ladoos in a cool dry place to prevent them from turning sticky or soft.

    Variations

    Kadalai urundai: It is a crunchy sweet made with roasted peanuts and jaggery. It is often made during karthigai deepam. It is tasty, healthy and full of energy.

    Ragi simili urundai: This is a soft and healthy ladoo made using ragi flour, jaggery and coconut. It is good for kids and mother's. Because ragi is rich in calcium and iron.

    Ural dal ladoo:  It is made with roasted urad dal and jaggery. This ladoo is full of protein. It helps to improve strength and it is often given to new moms.

    Maladu: This is a soft and easy sweet made with roasted gram, sugar and ghee. It melts in the mouth and is perfect for festivals like Diwali.

    FAQ

    Q: Can I use sugar instead of jaggery?

    Yes you can. But jaggery gives rich taste and it is healthier.

    Q: Do u need to add ghee?

    No ghee is not needed for this recipe. Because natural oil from peanuts helps to bind the ladoos.

    Q :Why is my mixture oily?

    Over grinding peanuts can release too much oil. Blend in short pulse to avoid this.

    Q: How long can I store peanut ladoos?

    These Ladoos are fresh for up to 7-10 days in an airtight container at room temperature.

    Q: Can I use store bought peanut powder?

    Yes. But freshly roasted peanuts give better flavour and aroma.

    • 1 cup Peanuts
    • ¼ cup Jaggery

    Instructions
     

    • Take peanuts in a dry pan and roast them well. Let this cool and take it in a blender and blend them. Add in jaggery and crush them again till it is well mixed.
    • Take small portion from this and shape it into ladoo. Store it in an air tight container.
