    Shakarpara recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is also known as fried maida biscuits and it is a simple snack prepared with maida flour.

    I would say that this recipe will be a easy but tasty snack which you can make for diwali..I made it in minutes and it tasted divine..I have already shared a different version of diamond cuts in my blog, this is a completely different one, much more thicker and very buttery. Great with a cup of tea..

    Ingredients for Shakarpara

    • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup
    • Milk - ¼ cup + more as needed
    • Ghee or Butter or Oil - 3 tbsp
    • Sugar - ⅓ cup
    • Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - ¼ tsp
    • Salt a pinch
    • Oil for Deep frying

    How to Make Shakarpara

    1. Take milk, ghee and sugar in a sauce pan and heat it on low heat. Mix till sugar is melted. Now turn off the heat and set aside till it gets warm.
    2. Take flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl and mix well.
    3. Add in the milk mix and knead to a soft dough. Set aside for 10 mins.
    4. Now take the dough and roll it into little thick circle. Now cut small diamonds using a pizza cutter or a somas spoon.
    5. Now heat oil for deep frying, drop the diamonds in and fry on a medium heat till golden.
    6. Drain and let it cool down.
    7. Now store this in a air tight container. Stays good for more than 2 weeks.

    first take sugar in a sauce pan

    add in ghee or butter or oil

      Sorry to say that the recipe did not turn good as expected. Followed the recipe exactly. However, the dough just disintegrated leaving a big mess when fried. Not sure what went wrong.

      Aarthi ji i am not a big fan of sweets..wanted to try something simply and tried this recipe. It turned out yummy. I didnt make diamonds, pinched them into balls and fries. Absolutely delicious. Family loved it. Thanks a ton for detailed explanation of this simple idea !!!
