    Stained Glass Cookies with Step by Step Pictures and Video. Crispy buttery cookies filled with crushed hard candies which are baked in oven so the candies melt to create a stained glass like pattern in the middle.

    What is Shortbread cookies?

    Shortbread cookies is delicious buttery and simple cookies which you can make for your little ones. It is very versatile and can be customized to your preference. What i did is i made a double batch of this dough and made a variety of cookies just to show you the different versions, Will soon share all those one by one.

    About Stained Glass Cookies

    Stained Glass Cookies with Step by Step Pictures and Video. Crispy buttery cookies filled with crushed hard candies which are baked in oven so the candies melt to create a stained glass like pattern in the middle.

    Any hard candies can be used.

    This is one of the fun cookie you can make for your kids or with your kids. You have to use hard candies to fill the centre. You can use poppins or any breakable hard candies.

    How to Make Stained Glass Cookies

    • Take butter, sugar in a bowl and cream till fluffy.
    • Add in vanilla, salt and mix well.
    • Add in flour and mix well to form a dough. Wrap this in cling wrap and chill in fridge for 1 hour.
    • Now roll this dough between two sheets of parchment paper or cling wrap.
    • Use cookie cutter to cut out round shape. Now use a small cookie cutter to cut out middle round.
    • Preheat oven to 180 degree C / 350 degree F.
    • Now arrange it in a baking pan lined with parchment and bake for 7 to 8 mins till it is half cooked.
    • Now remove the cookies from oven, sprinkle the candies into the small cut out holes.
    • Pop it back in oven and bake for 5 more mins.
    • The cookies should get light golden around the edges.
    • Now remove from oven and let it cool for 10 mins.
    • Store in an air tight container.

    Ingredients

    • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 ¾ cup / 210 grams
    • Sugar - ½ cup / 100 grams powdered
    • Unsalted Butter - 150 grams soft
    • Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
    • Salt - a pinch
    • Coloured Hard Candies as needed

    Stained Glass Cookies with Pictures

     
    take soft butter in a bowl

     

    add powdered sugar
     
     
    cream this really well

     

    add salt

     

    vanilla

     

    mix till creamy

     

    add flour

     

    mix well to form a soft dough

     

    place the dough in plastic wrap

     

    cover it well and pop it in fridge for 1 hour

     

    Now lets make the candy crumb

     

    i used these hard candies, you can use any hard candies

     

    bash the candies into crumbles

     

    Now take the dough

     

    roll it out

     

    cut it using a cutter
     
     
     
     
    now use a small cutter to cut out the middle portion

     

     

     

    arrange it in a baking pan and bake

     

    now it is partially baked

     

    sprinkle the candies in the middle

     

    pop it into the oven and bake for little longer

     

    now the candies are melted

     

    leave to cool for 10 mins. now the candies have harden

     

    Serve
