I used  white butter in this recipe, but you could use yellow butter too. I think the colour may vary a little.

    About Butter Biscuits (Cookies)

These butter biscuits are easy to make and very tasty. They are suitable for any occasion, need few ingredients, and are simple to prepare. These cookies are usually a favorite whether you're baking them for your family, yourself, or as a gift! What are you waiting for, then? Enjoy the buttery richness by giving this recipe a try today!

Although I've posted a number of cookie recipes on my blog, I hadn't made any in a long time. I finally made the decision to try making butter cookies after my audience repeatedly requested them. The cookies were perfectly crisp on the edges and very soft and buttery. My little sister, who is generally more picky, liked these—especially their perfect white color, which made them look as good as they tasted. You can check my eggless oats cookies and ghee biscuits which are popular here.

This recipe for eggless butter cookies is simple, easy to follow, and perfect for beginners. They pair nicely with tea or coffee as well as lovely treats. You can prepare a batch whenever you want to with just a few ingredients!

    3. Eggless & Easy to Make—Great for people who do not eat eggs or who just want a simple, easy recipe.

    Butter Cookies Ingredients

All-Purpose Flour (Maida) – The base of the cookies, which gives them a crisp, light texture. Keeps the inside of the cookies soft and helps them rise a little.

Baking Soda – Gives the cookies a bit of spread and lightness.

Butter - The main ingredient! For a rich, pure flavor, use unsalted butter.

Powdered Sugar – Prevents the cookies from being gritty and gives them a smooth feel.

    Hacks

    • Before baking, chill the dough for half an hour to achieve a crispier texture.
    • Want a more intense flavor? Make use of quality butter—it makes a big difference!
    • A teaspoon of almond extract or vanilla can be added for an interesting variation.
    • Add a little milk to the dough to bring it together if it's too dry.

    Expert Tips

Use room temperature butter – It gives cookies a perfect texture and mixes better with sugar.

Measure flour correctly – The cookies may get dry if you use too much flour, so always level off the measuring cup.

Don’t over bake – As they cool, they get firmer, even though they may appear soft at first.

    FAQ

    1. Can I use salted butter?

Yes, but exclude extra salt from the recipe. But, you have more control over the flavor when using unsalted butter.

    2. How can I store these cookies?

They can be stored for up to a week at room temperature in an airtight container. They can be frozen in a ziplock bag for longer storage.

    3. Is it possible to add flavors of my choice to this recipe?

Of course! For a different flavor, try adding nutmeg, cinnamon, or even orange zest.

    Variations

Chocolate Butter Cookies: Replace 2 tablespoons of flour with cocoa powder.

Nutty Butter Cookies: Mix in chopped almonds, cashews, or walnuts for extra crunch.

Vanilla Butter Cookies: Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for a subtle, sweet aroma.

Coconut Butter Cookies: Mix in desiccated coconut for a different flavor.
