    Vegan Hot Dog Recipe

    Vegan Hot Dog Recipe, packed with high protein ingredients like tofu, soya chunks and vegetables that gives perfect texture once cooked and stuffed inside hot dog rolls. The flavor of this hot dog were perfect even meat eater will love it.

    Vegan Hot Dog Recipe

    Making a vegan hot dogs was always in my to do list and finally few weeks back i made it and it was a hit. I used soya chunks which is commonly called as a mock meat and tofu which is a healthy protein stuff for making this. More over I made this and stuffed it in my whole wheat hot dog rolls.

    About Vegan Hot Dogs

    Vegetarian hot dog is possible, specially when it is filled with minced soya chunks, tofu, fresh garlic, ginger, spices and vegetables, no one is going to note the difference. The recipe is super easy to make, and it is one of the best vegan hot dog recipe. you will make this over and over again. 

    You can make the vegan hot dog and store in refrigerator for a week or store in freezer for more than a month. These hot dogs can be stuffed inside rolls or even had with some lettuce as lettuce wraps for low carb meal. 

    The cool thing about this recipe is, you can add any vegetables that you prefer like green beans, cauliflower, corn, broccoli or potato in these hot dog. Shape it like sausages and cook until done.

    What can I use instead of soya chunks in vegan hot dogs?

    You can use any vegan minced mock meat if you prefer that. Else double the amount of tofu for the sausage.

    You can use ketchup, mustard, relish, chopped onions, tomatoes, peppers on a vegan hot dogs.

    Are vegan hot dogs healthier?

    Vegan hot dog is made with fresh ingredients like vegetables, tofu and spices instead of processed meat. So it is way healthier than regular ones.

    Ingredients 

    • Soya Chunks - I used soya chunks which I cooked and crumbled to form vegetarian high protein mock meat. You can use any vegan minced meat.
    • Tofu - use crumble tofu for added protein. You can even use crumbled paneer.
    • vegetables - I used grated carrots and capsicum.
    • Ginger Garlic - it is mainly for aroma and flavour which goes well in the hot dog. 
    • Spices - I used chilli, coriander, cumin and garam masala powder for Indian touch.
    • Toppings - you will be needing hot dog rolls, ketchup, mustard, onions, tomatoes and peppers for topping.

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)Take boiled soya chunks in a blender. You can use any vegan minced meat.

    2)Puree them into a coarse mixture. You can use cooked soya granules too.

    3)Heat oil in a pan. Add in finely chopped green chillies and onions.

    4)Season with salt and cook this for couple of minutes.

    5)Add in ginger and garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes.

    6)Now add in spice powders and stir to combine.

    7)Let the spices cook down till raw smell leaves.

    8)Add in finely chopped vegetables. I am using grated carrots and finely chopped capsicum.

    9)Saute for 2 minutes. You can use chopped green beans, cauliflower or broccoli too.

    10)Add a splash of tomato ketchup for taste. Stir to combine.

    11)Now add in cooked soya granules.

    12)toss that well with the spices and vegetables. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

    13)Remove this to a bowl. Add in crumbled paneer or tofu.

    14)Add in some breadcrumbs. I am using crumbled bread for binding.

    15)Mix it really well until it form a mixture like this.

    16)take small portion and shape it into a long hot dog.

    17)Coat each hot dog with some cornstarch and pop this in fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.

    18)heat oil in a pan. Pan fry the hot dog until lightly golden and cooked all the way through.

    19)Flip and cook until all side is golden and cooked.

    20)Now lets make the hot dog. I am using whole wheat hot dog buns, chopped bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. I am using some mustard and ketchup too.

    21)Slit fresh hot dog rolls.

    22)Place hot dog, spread mustard and ketchup. Top with chopped onions, tomatoes and capsicum. Serve.


    Expert Tips

    • You can use any vegan minced meat instead of soya chunks.
    • Minced soya granules is available now, you can use that instead of chunks.
    • Any finely chopped or grated vegetables can be added in filling.
    • Fresh bread slices can be added instead of breadcrumbs for binding.

    Storage

    You can make the vegan hot dog and store in refrigerator for a week or store in freezer for more than a month.

    Ingredients
      

    For Hot Dogs Sausages

    • 2 teaspoon Sunflower Oil
    • 1 medium Onions peeled & chopped finely
    • 1 no Green Chilli chopped finely
    • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
    • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • 2 teaspoon Coriander powder
    • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
    • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
    • 1 medium Carrots grated
    • ½ cup Green Bell Pepper chopped finely
    • 2 tablespoon Tomato Ketchup
    • 2 cups Soya Chunks cooked
    • 100 grams Tofu crumbled
    • ½ cup Bread Crumbs

    For Coating & Frying Hot dogs

    • ½ cup Cornstarch
    • ½ cup Sunflower Oil for pan frying

    For Hot Dogs

    • 6 no Hot Dog Rolls
    • 6 tablespoon Tomato Ketchup
    • 6 teaspoon Mustard Sauce optional
    • 6 tablespoon Onions peeled & chopped finely
    • 6 tablespoon Tomatoes chopped finely
    • 6 tablespoon Bell peppers chopped finely

    Instructions
     

    • Take cooked soya chunks in a blender and make it into a mince. Set aside.
    • Heat oil in a pan, saute onion and chillies with some salt till it is light golden. Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min. Add in all spices powders and give a toss. Now Add in carrots and capsicum and saute for 2 mins.
    • Now add in minced soya and mix well. Saute for 4 to 5 mins till the raw smell leaves from soya. Remove this to a bowl and let it cool down. Now crumbled tofu and breadcrumbs. mix well with your hands till it forms a thick mixture.
    • Now take a portion and roll it into sausage. Do this to the remaining as well. Now place this in fridge for 30 mins.
    • Now roll the sausages in cornstarch and put it in a pan with very little oil. Fry this on medium heat till it is golden. Remove it and set aside.
    • Now take your hot dog buns and slit open, place the sausage in and drizzle some ketchup and mustard over it. Top with onions, tomatoes and capsicum. Serve hot.
