Mutta Salna / Egg Salna / Eggs Cooked in a Spicy Coconut Sauce - Thattu Kadai Recipes / Street Food Recipes

My third day for cooking with alphabets series is with the letter 'M'..I was thinking of so many recipes using this letter, but I didn't have time to cook anything..But luckily I had a post which is pending in my drafts for a while..i checked it and the name starts with the letter M.

If you ever have parota from any road side shop they will serve it with chicken salna or mutta salna..Both are so delicious..This makes a perfect sidedish for roti, parota, dosa or idli..I hope you will love it and tell me how it turned out..I am sending this recipe to Blogging Marathan Day 3 with the theme 'Cooking with Alphabets'.

Ingrediants:

Onion - 1 chopped
Tomato - 1 chopped
Eggs - 3
Green Chilli - 2
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - 1/2 tsp

For Frying and grinding:
Onion - 1 sliced
Tomatoes - 1 chopped
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tblspn
Whole Pepper- 1 tsp
Cinnamon / pattai - 1 inch stick
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder / Malli podi - 1 tblspn
Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 3 tblspn

Method:

Lets make the masala. Heat Oil in a kadai. Add fennel, pepper and cinnamon. Saute for a min.

Add in onions, curry leaves  and cook for 3 mins. Throw in chilli powder and coriander powder . Mix well.

Add in tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy. Add in coconut and saute for 5 mins till they turn golden.

Remove them and make into a fine puree and set aside.

Now add onions, tomatoes and green chilli in a pan. Add water and salt and sugar and cover and cook till they are cooked.

Add in the ground masala and mix well. Cook till oil separates.

Add in the well beaten egg slowly and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 mins.

Serve with roti,dosa or parota.

cover and cook

cover and simmer

cook till oil separates

pour some beaten egg in

mix well

Cook for a min

Serve

  11. I learn so much when I visit here! I've never seen curry leaves before. I love coconut so that was fun to see go into the dish. I also love eggs so I was intrigued by that addition. It looks so so delicious!
