Baking bread is one of my favorite thing to do..The main thing in baking your own bread is, you can customize it as per your health needs. In my place, there is only two bread available white bread and wheat bread and i am sure, that wheat bread is not 100% wheat, it has maida in it. When we started to have bread for breakfast, i need 100% wheat bread. So i started baking my own bread. Now i have a whole wheat bread recipe, multi grain bread, milk honey bread, vegan white bread..You can check my other bread recipes too..

But i always wanted to bake a bread with oats in it. Though i have oats in my multi grain bread. I wanted a separate oats bread. So i baked this. I added honey to this because honey and oats are just perfect. I made this with whole wheat and it turned out good..I enjoyed lots of sandwiches using this bread..So try this out and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 15 mins
Resting Time : 1 hour + 1 hour
Baking Time : 1 hour
Makes : One 20 cm loaf

Ingredients:
Whole Wheat Flour / Atta – 3 cups
Oats Flour – 1 cup
Dry Yeast – 2 tsp
Honey – 1/4 cup
Warm Water – 300 ml + more if needed
Olive Oil – 2 tblspn
Salt – 2 tsp

Method:
Take warm water in a jug, add in honey and sprinkle yeast over it..Mix it up and set aside for 5 mins to activate the yeast.
Now pour olive oil over it and mix well.
Take wheat flour and oats flour in a large mixing bowl. Add salt to it and mix well. Make a well in the center and pour the wet ingredients in it.
Make it into a soft dough.
Now drizzle a tsp of oil and spread it all over the dough.
Cover the dough with a plastic wrap and let it rise for a hour or till it is double in size.
Once it is risen, knead it well and shape it into a log shape. Now grease a loaf pan with oil. Place the shaped loaf inside it and cover it again with plastic wrap and leave it to rise for a hour.
Now preheat a oven to 200 Degree C. Place the loaf pan inside the center rack of the oven and bake it for 30 mins, now lower the temparature to 180 Degree C and bake for 20 to 25 mins.
Now remove the loaf from oven and Let it cool completely before inverting to cooling rack;.
Leave it to cool completely before slicing.

Hi Aarthi, pls help me out..i tried this recipe today. The only change i made is the use of sugar instead of honey. I just baked it at 200 degrees for 30 mins and then the crust felt too hard. so i didn't do the second round of baking. the crust was really thick and hard and the inside was a bit crumbly. Pls give me suggestions to improve.

Hi dear, Thanks for your reply.. I want to try the recipe again. so should I reduce the baking time further (I only baked it 30 mins while the recipe suggested baking for 30+20 mins) or should i reduce the temperature?

@RUCHIif u add too hot water then it will kill the yeast. Adding cold water also wont activate the yeast. You have to use luke warm water.
