    Aloo Chana Curry Recipe

Chana & Potatoes are such a lovely combination to cook with. They make awesome curries when cooked, because they both have the tendency to absorb the flavours which
you add in. I already have a dry version of aloo channa in my blog, this is a gravy version of it which I make very often at home. You can serve this with roti, parottas or rice. Hope you will enjoy it.

How to Make Aloo Chana Curry

    • Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add in cumin and let it sizzle for  a min.
    • In goes onions and saute till they turn golden.
    • Add in ginger garlic paste and mix well.
    • Now add in tomatoes and cook till oil separates.
    • Add in chilli, turmeric, coriander, garam masala powder and mix well.
    • Add in salt and sugar to taste,
    • Now add in channa, potatoes and toss well.
    • Pour some water and pressure cook it for 3 whistle and simmer the flame for 10 mins. Now switch off the flame and let the pressure go all by itself.
    • Open the pressure cooker and garnish with coriander leave.
    • Serve with roti or parotas.

@AnonymousThis is how i freeze channa dal. I soaked it overnight, Cooked it and freezed it. So i used that channa to make this. If you are making this with presoaked channa, you might need to cook for a little longer.

I made this for supper yesterday. I thought I was substantial enough, with the channa and potatoes, so I skipped the rice, and we just ate it with a little bit of bread. It tasted great! My husband liked it so much that he even took some of the leftover curry to work in his lunchbox 🙂 Just like you, I'm a big fan of potatoes, so I'll definitely try the dry version of this curry.

I'm in the middle of making this for my best friend and her husband as they have just become parents for the second time. It smells delicious...I doubled the recipe so that I can test it for lunch before I give it to them! Thank you for the recipe. I think it's going to be a real success. Lucy
