    Carrot & Spring Onion Thoran Recipe

    Thoran is a famous south indian dish. It is made with a whole lot of veggies, hmm i would say you can make thoran with almost all veggies. You can check all my thoran dish here. Normally we make thoran with carrots alone, but for a twist i added some spring onions in there too. And it actually tasted yummy.

    Ingredients for Carrot & Spring Onion Thoran Recipe

    • Carrots - 1 large chopped finely
    • Spring Onion - 5 chopped finely (both green and white part)
    • Salt to taste
    • Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli -1

    For Grinding:

    • Coconut - ¾ cup freshly grated
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Shallots / Sambar Onion - 2
    • Garlic - 2 cloves

    I served it with andhra tomato rasam. The combination is yummy. So here you go to the recipe..

    How to Make Carrot & Spring Onion Thoran Recipe

    1. Take all the ingredients give for grinding in a blender and grind them without adding water.
    2. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard, urad dal and dry red chilli. Saute them for 30 seconds.
    3. Now add in carrots and spring onions. Saute them well in oil. Season with salt.
    4. Cover this with a lid and let it cook on a low heat for 5 to 8 mins.
    5. Now open the lid and give a stir. Add in the ground masala and toss well with the veggies. Cook them for couple of mins..
    6. Switch off the stove and serve.

    Ingredients

      I love thorans garnished with coconut... Each time I see that pan I make a mental note to ask you if it s the diamond pan from Wonderchef.. Is so, I want to ask you if its worth buying and if it's better than a normal nonstick tawa
