About Confetti Cake
Confetti cake is a sort of cake that is prepared with rainbow coloured sprinkles. The rainbow sprinkles melt into vivid colour dots that resemble confetti when baked, hence the name confetti cake.
Confetti cake is a buttery vanilla cake covered with vanilla buttercream and sprinkles throughout the batter. When the Pillsbury Company introduced a new style of cake dubbed Funfetti cake in 1989, a combination of fun and confetti, the cake was born. This cake was made with a white cake mix and multicoloured sprinkles. The cakes distinct appearance was intended to appeal to children. The cake quickly gained popularity, and by 1990, it was the most popular cake in the world.

Ingredients for Confetti Birthday cake
Egg Whites : For maximum fluffy softness, this recipe calls for a lot of egg whites (no egg yolks). With an electric hand mixer, whip them until stiff peaks form (that is, when you take a whisk straight out of the whites, the peaks stay and don't collapse back into themselves), then fold them into the cake batter with a spatula.
Milk : Milk hydrates the dry ingredients, dissolves the sugar, and aids the baking powder in producing carbon dioxide, which helps the cake rise.
Sprinkles : Use the little cylinders of standard rainbow sprinkles. If you use nonpareil sprinkles (the little small dots), the colour will seep into the cake, turning it greyish. If the sprinkles are too large or chunky, they will not melt into the cake properly.
How to Make Confetti Cake
- Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Grease two 9 inch round pan with oil and dust it with flour. Coat on all sides and set aside.
- Now take flour, baking powder, salt in a bowl and mix well. set aside.
- Now take egg white in a bowl and use a electric beater and whip till peaks form.
- Take butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and use a beater to whip it till creamy.
- Now add in sourcream and whip till creamy. Add in half of the flour mix and half of the milk and fold gently. Now add the remaining flour and milk and fold gently.
- Add in sprinkles and mix gently.
- Finally fold in egg whites in portions and gently mix well.
- Spoon this into two pans and bake for 30 to 35 mins. Insert a toothpick to check whether it is coming out clean or not. If it comes clean then it is cooked.
- Now remove the cake from oven and cool completely.
- Prepare a batch of vanilla buttercream.
- Place a cake on the cake stand, Now take some of the buttercream and spread evenly. now place another cake on top and top with some buttercream. Now spread frosting all over the cake and spread evenly.
- Top with sprinkles.
- Slice and serve.

- All Purpose Flour / Maida - 2 ½ cup / 300 grams
- Baking Powder - 2 ½ tsp
- Salt - ½ tsp

- Vanilla Essence - 1 tblspn
- Yogurt or Sour Cream - ¼ cup / 60 ml
- Egg Whites - 4

- Sprinkles or Confetti - ¼ cup
- Vanilla Buttercream - 1 batch
- Sprinkles more for decorating
Instructions
