Bibimbap (비빔밥), Korean pronunciation: [bibimbap], sometimes anglicized bi bim bap or bi bim bop) is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means “mixed rice”. Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste), soy sauce, or doenjang, a fermented soybean paste. A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating.
In South Korea, Jeonju, Jinju, and Tongyeong are especially famous for their versions of bibimbap. In 2011, it was listed at number 40 on the World’s 50 most delicious foods readers’ poll compiled by CNN Travel.
Here are few things which she mentioned,
1)This dish is called as dolsot bibimbap, since it is made in this special korean pot. The name of that pot is dolsot bowl. If you dont have this special pot, you can still serve it in regular bowl, but call it just bibimbap.
2)For healthier option, use cooked quinao instead of rice.
3)When sauteing, start with light coloured veggies to dark. Since the dark colour veggies would stain the light ones. Presentation is crucial in this dish.
4)You can use sliced chicken, pork in this as well. Just saute and season with the ingredients given for beef.
5)Assemble the whole thing in the pot and heat for 5 mins or so till you hear the sizzling sound. Dont over cook it else the rice would burn. But a little crispyness of the rice is delicious in this.
6)Enjoy this immediately, because this taste best piping hot.
7)You can use any rice, but normally korean rice or a shortgrain rice is used.
Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Carrot – 1 large cut into matchsticks
Yellow Zucchini – 1 small cut into matchsticks
Green Zucchini – 1 small cut into matchsticks
Shitake Mushrooms – 10 to 12 sliced thinly
Bean Sprouts – 2 handfuls

Minced Beef – 250 grams
Soy Sauce – 2 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp

Mirin (Rice Wine) – 1 tsp
Black Pepper to taste
Method:
First cook the rice, you can cook as per package directions. You can either use white shortgrain rice or regular rice as well. Cook it and set aside. For 1 cup of rice use 1.5 cups of water and take it in a pot, bring it to a boil and simmer the pot. Cook covered on a low heat for 10 to 15 mins. Fluff the rice with a fork and set aside.
Now prepare your veggies. Set aside.
Boil some water in a sauce pan, add spinach in it and boil for couple of mins. Drain it and wash in cold water. Squeeze the excess water and chop roughly. Take it in a bowl, add spring onion, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil. Toss well. Set aside.
Now heat little vegetable oil in a pan, start by sauteing the light colour veggies so the veggies dont stain. Start with mushrooms, yellow zucchini, green zucchini and then carrots. If you are using bean sprouts, boil it in water and season just like you did for spinach. Now set the veggies aside.
Now heat little oil in a pan and make fried egg, sunny side egg. Set aside.
Now take your serving pot, drizzle little sesame oil in the bowl, spoon the rice, top with the veggies and place the whole bowl on heat and let it heat till your hear sizzling sound. It will take around 5 mins.
Now top with fried egg and gochujang.
Serve immediately. When eating, mix everything together and eat.
For Non Vegetarian.:
Heat little oil in a pan, add minced beef and cook till it gets golden brown. Drain of excess fat and add in all the ingredients given above. Mix well. You can top the bowl with this and heat as mentioned above.
