Homemade Chocolate Sauce / Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup (Sauce) / Icecream with Chocolate Sauce

Frankly speaking i am not a big fan of hershey’s chocolate syrup. Somehow i don’t like the overly sweet sauce along with the sweet icecreams. But many of my friends, even my sister drink that stuff straight from the bottle. It is seriously addictive and it is one of the top searched list in google. So i decided to make a homemade one. And i have to warn you onething. This doesn’t taste exactly like the hershey’s, but in my opinion it taste way better than that.

When i googled the recipe for it, i came across few recipes. I took the recipe, modified a little and made it. OMG it came out so good. The cool thing is you could make a decent chocolate syrup without chocolate bar. It is made from cocoa and taste so addictive. Making your own chocolate sauce is great because you could adjust the sweet level too.

If you are serving it with icecream, reduce the sweetness. If you serving it with pancakes or something less sweet, then increase it. And also if you want to store this for a longer period of time, then skip the milk and make it with water. It will taste equally good.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Makes – 1.5 cup of Sauce

Ingredients:

Cocoa Powder – 1/4 cup
Corn Starch / Corn Flour – 1 tblspn
Sugar – 1 cup
Milk – 1.5 cup ( Use water if you want to store this for longer time – refer notes )
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp

Method:

Take all the ingredients in a sauce pan except milk. Slowly add in milk and mix well so there is no lumps formed.

Now heat it up. Once it reaches a boiling point, simmer the flame and let it simmer for 5 mins.

The sauce should be on the runny side. It thickens as it stands.

Serve this with cold icecream.

Notes:

1)This sauce can be stored in fridge in a air tight bottle for 3 to 4 days.
2) If you want to store this for a long time. Instead of milk add in water. You can store the water made sauce for upto a month in fridge.
