Homemade Orange Jam without Preservatives. Orange jam Recipe using Fresh Orange Juice . Easy Orange Jelly made with oranges, sugar.

    Orange Jam

Making jam is so much fun, I love doing it..It gives you immense pleasure if you make your own stuffs at home..Because you know it is healthy and preservatives free, since you know what is inside that.. oranges are in season right now, Ok I know a little late..I made this couple of weeks back..But still  oranges are available here..Its so cheap right now..So go get some fruit and whip up this stuff.

It seems a little complicated, but once you start making this, you will know how easy and cheap it is..yes it is very cheap compared to the orange jam that is available in those labeled fancy jars. I added lemon juice as a preservative here, to freshen it up and save it for a long time. But you do need to put this in the fridge as a precaution. This jam won’t be thick when it is in the stove.

Actually you should take it off the heat once it starts to thicken up, because it will get so thick as it cools down. So be careful…This taste great when spread on toast..I have half a jar of it leftover in my fridge , I am planning to make some nice jam filled cupcakes or cookies out of that..Will let you know the results.

Ingredients for making orange jam recipe

    • Orange – 2 kgs
    • Sugar – 500 gms
    • Salt – 1 tsp
    • Lemon Juice – 3 tblspn

How to Make Orange Jam recipe

    1. Juice all the oranges using a juicer.
    2. Now pour this fresh juice in a large kadai. Bring this to a boil.
    3. Simmer this for 15 mins until the juice has reduced in half.
    4. Add sugar and salt and mix well. Boil till you reach a thick flowing consistency. It won’t be so thick, but as it cools down it will get thick.
    5. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice to it and mix well.
    6. Let it cool completely before transferring into a clean container and put in fridge..
    7. Enjoy it with warm toast.

@meenakshi May be you must have squeezed the orange with the bitter taste. Dont add sugar in the begining. It should be added at the end.
