Oyster Mushroom Curry Recipe / Mushroom & Peas Curry Recipe

Button Mushrooms are readily available in my place, but during my last trip to veggie shop, i found these beautiful looking oyster mushroom and immediately picked a packet. I made this simple curry using that and it turned out to be super delicious..Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 25 to 30 mins
Serves : 4 to 6

Ingredients:
Oyster Mushrooms or Any Mushrooms – 200 grams
Oil – 1 tblspn + 1 tblspn
Onion – 1 large chopped finely
Tomatoes – 2 large pureed
Capsicum / Bell Pepper – 1/2 sliced thinly
Peas – 1 cup ( I used frozen)
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tblspn
Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Coriander Powder / Malli Podi – 1 tblspn
Cumin Powder / Jeera Podi – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves a handful finely chopped
Method:
Heat oil in a pan, add in mushroom and cook till lightly coloured. Remove this to a plate.
Heat another oil in the same pan, add in onions and cook till golden, add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
Add in all spice powder and saute for a min.
Add in tomatoes and cook till oil separates.
Add in more water, add in cooked mushrooms, peas, capsicum. Mix well
Cook till the mushrooms are done..Simmer for 10 mins. 
Add in coriander leaves and mix well.
Serve.

Take all your ingredients

You need some oyster mushroom

Heat oil in a pan

add in mushrooms

cook till the mushroom is half cooked

now it has turned a little dark in colour as well

remove to a plate

Heat oil in the same pan

add in onions

cook till golden

add in ginger garlic paste

and saute well

Add in some turmeric powder and cumin powder

add in coriander powder

and some chilli powder

add in some garam masala powder

mix well

add in tomato puree

cook till oil separates

pour some water

mix well and bring it to boil

add in mushroom

sliced capsicum

and some frozen peas

mix well and cook till done

add some salt

simmer till the curry is cooked

add in chopped coriander leaves

and serve

    I can imagine how tasty this dish would be. Would love to soak a slice or couple sliced of bread into this lovely thick mushroom. What I love about it is that it's the spices that gives the depth of flavour to this simple dish. Cheers, Jo

    I have never made a curry with oyster mushrooms before (I always just fry them in breadcrumbs, and then we have them with tartare sauce or ketchup). Everybody in the family were eager to try this new dish, saying "wow, look at this – oyster mushrooms in a curry!". It was not bad and very original, but we really prefer curry with regular button mushrooms… sorry 😉

    Did you wash the mushrooms?
    If yes , is it compulsory?
    Did the recipe.
