FOR MORE DETAILED TIPS FOR PRESSURE COOKER BAKING..CHECK THIS
As soon as i posted my microwave cake recipe,
i got tons and tons of request from you all to post cooker cake. I was
not scared to try it, because I have made a cakes in cooker before..It
was years back when i dont own a oven. I learned the trick from my
perimma, she told me to put sand in the bottom of the cooker and bake
cakes in it. This way the sand heats up and acts as a oven.

Actually i
baked lots and lots of cakes using pressure cooker before, therefore i
dedicated a separate pressure cooker for it. I left the cooker in my
mom’s place. As i got lots of request from my readers i took the cooker
from my mom place and baked a cake instantly.

Now coming to the recipe. This is a simple cake recipe. You need only a bowl and a wooden spoon or electric beater. This cake is so spongy and taste yummy. I added some chocolate chips for extra taste, you could add some tutti fruity too..So try this for christmas and let me know how it turns out for you..

REFER THIS POST FOR PRESSURE COOKER BAKING

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Baking Time : 45 to 50 mins
Serves – 10

Ingredients:

All Purpose Flour / Maida – 11/2 cup / 180 grams
Sugar – 1 cup / 200 grams
Baking Soda – 1 tsp
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Milk – 1 cup / 250 ml
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
Butter – 1/4 cup melted / 50 grams
Chocolate Chips – 3 tblspn optional

Method:

Place a pressure cooker on stove, place a separator on the bottom of cooker and heat it on high heat. Dont use gasket on the lid, cover it. Heat it for 10 mins or so. Dont use whislte.

Brush a baking tin with oil and dust it with flour. Tap off the excess and set aside till use.

Now make the batter. Take all the ingredients given in the list except chocolate chips in a mixing bowl. Use a electric beater to mix the batter untill it is smooth.

Pour this batter into the tin, sprinkle some chocolate chips on top.

Use a pot holder and place the cake tin carefully into the center of pressure cooker.

Cover it and simmer the heat. Cook on a low heat for 45 to 50 mins.

When it is done. Open the pressure cooker and use a tooth pick to check whether the cake is done. If the tooth pick comes out clean then the cake is done.

Remove it from the cooker carefully and cool it down completely.

Invert the cake pan on a place, slice and serve.

    Hi Aarthi,

I must say u are the one who really motivated me to cook ! This is was the first receipe i ever tried on my own and it tasted amazing. My Little cousin has become a fan of this cake.

I have made this twice so far but however both the times the cake fully dint come out of the pan.It broke in the middle and the remaining stayed at the bottom. And one more doubt is am little confused with the measurements as am new to cooking. Can i use the same cup for measuring flour and sugar? Say i measure 1 1/2 cup maida in a cup and use the same cup for measuring 1 cup of sugar. Will that work?

@Anonymousfirst you need measuring cups for baking. My 1 measuring cup hold 240 m. you have to use that measuring cup. And greasing the pan well with oil and dusting it with flour is important.that makes easy unmoulding

Aarthi instead of chocolate chip cookies can we use chopped badam or cashew nuts ? And can we mix it along with the batter instead of putting it on top of the batter? Will it spoil the mixture ? I have tried this cake before and it was yummy.Only prob was cooking time takes nearly 1 hr or more. Is there something am doing wrong? And what shld be the batter consistency

you have to remove gasket. If you dont remove it, it will cause damage in pressure cooker, since this cake is dry baked. It will make the gasket melt.
