Pressure Cooker Cake
As soon as i posted my microwave cake recipe, i got tons and tons of request from you all to post cooker cake. I was not scared to try it, because I have made a cakes in cooker before..It was years back when i don't own an oven. Learned the trick from my perimma, she told me to put sand in the bottom of the cooker and bake cakes in it. This way the sand heats up and acts as an oven.
About Pressure Cooker Cake Recipe
Actually i baked lots and lots of cakes using pressure cooker before, therefore i
dedicated a separate pressure cooker for it. I left the cooker in my
mom's place. As i got lots of request from my readers i took the cooker
from my mom place and baked a cake instantly.
Now coming to the recipe. This is a simple cake recipe. You need only a bowl and a wooden spoon or electric beater. This cake is so spongy and taste yummy. I added some chocolate chips for extra taste, you could add some tutti fruity too..So try this for Christmas and let me know how it turns out for you.

Notes
- You can bake every cake in cooker. But i recommend you not to choose very complicated ones.
- Dont use Nonstick cooker for this. Since dry heating non stick is not prefered. Use plain aluminium cooker.
- Dont use gasket for baking cake. If you gasket, the dry heating will cause smell and damage it.
- Never use whistle in the cooker. Remove it.
- Dont add water inside the cooker before baking.
- Place a separator between cooker and cake pan. The cake pan should never touch the bottom of the cooker.
- Always check a pressure cooker cake often to ensure over baking cake or burning.
- Always use a cake pan which fits comfortably into the pressure cooker.
- Preheat the pressure cooker for a good 10 mins on high heat before putting the cake pan in.
- Use a pot holder to put the cake pan inside the cooker, since the cooker can be too hot.
- After you place the cake pan inside the cooker, reduce the flame to the lowest, cover it and cook.

Anonymous
Hi Aarthi,
I must say u are the one who really motivated me to cook ! This is was the first receipe i ever tried on my own and it tasted amazing. My Little cousin has become a fan of this cake.
I have made this twice so far but however both the times the cake fully dint come out of the pan.It broke in the middle and the remaining stayed at the bottom. And one more doubt is am little confused with the measurements as am new to cooking. Can i use the same cup for measuring flour and sugar? Say i measure 1 1/2 cup maida in a cup and use the same cup for measuring 1 cup of sugar. Will that work?
Aarthi
@Anonymousfirst you need measuring cups for baking. My 1 measuring cup hold 240 m. you have to use that measuring cup. And greasing the pan well with oil and dusting it with flour is important.that makes easy unmoulding
Anonymous
Aarthi instead of chocolate chip cookies can we use chopped badam or cashew nuts ? And can we mix it along with the batter instead of putting it on top of the batter? Will it spoil the mixture ? I have tried this cake before and it was yummy.Only prob was cooking time takes nearly 1 hr or more. Is there something am doing wrong? And what shld be the batter consistency
Devi
Difference between baking powder and baking soada
Aarthi
@Anonymousyes u can add nuts and mix it into the batter, cooking time will depends on the size of the cooker you use and the size of the pan. so keep cooking till it is done.

Just wanted to confirm.
So there is no need to put sand at the bottom of the oven?
Also, do we need to buy different measuring cups for sugar and flour?
You're doing a great job!

if gasket is not removed does it cause any damage to cake? my mom is not letting me remove the gasket she is saying the pressure cooker will get damage..
Aarthi
you have to remove gasket. If you dont remove it, it will cause damage in pressure cooker, since this cake is dry baked. It will make the gasket melt.
