This is my first recipe for snake guard in my blog. Even though amma cooks this vegetable often, i never even thought of posting this in my blog. The reason for that is, I don’t like it. I hated it so badly. I have not tasted it much too, but the look of it makes me to hate it..

Oneday when i was shopping, i found this in the market. I was confused whether to buy or not. As a brave move i took one and put it into my basket. When i reached home, i was looking at it and was thinking what to make with it. Then finally i decided to make a gravy out it to serve over rice.

I sliced it up, cooked in water and added cooked dal and a yummy coconut masala, did a final tempering and walla there was a yummy gravy. When i tasted it first i can’t believe that it is snake guard. it tasted so good. Give it a go and you will know the taste of it….

This looks like a very intriguing vegetable though I don't think that I'd be able to find it in southwestern Ontario, Canada. Are you sure the name isn't snake GOURD in English which would make more sense?

Hi Arathi. Love most of ur recipes. I have a small doubt in this recipe, there is no tomato or tamarind added here.. isn’t it required?
