Soda Bread Rolls Recipe – Yeast Free Soda Buns Recipe

I made this easy bread rolls few days back. It turned out so soft and yummy. Plus you dont have to worry about yeast and proofing them and stuffs like that. This buns can be made from start to finish in under 30 mins or probably 40 mins.

The rising agent in this buns is baking soda and it activates when added straight into yogurt. This combination makes the buns rise and makes it soft. Such a easy principle but the end result is so good..I used this buns to make my honey mustard chicken burgers..
You dont have to make burger using this, this taste so good warm with a slather of butter..Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Baking Time : 25 mins
Makes : 4 to 5 buns


Ingredients:

Yogurt / Curd – 1/2 cup
Milk – 1/4 cup + more for brushing on top of buns
Baking Soda / Cooking Soda – 1/2 tsp
Sugar / Honey – 1 tblspn
Salt – 3/4 tsp
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1.5 cup + more as needed
Oil – 2 tblspn
Oats as needed for sprinkling on top of buns

Method:

Preheat oven to 200 degree C. I took a baking tray and greased it well with oil.

Take yogurt, sugar, salt in a bowl. Add in baking soda and mix well. Wait for a min till it bubble up.

Add in flour and mix well. Add in milk slowly and mix it to a sticky dough.

Now grease your hands well with oil. 

Now take take dough and shape it into a rough ball. Place it in the oiled pan.

Brush the top with milk and sprinkle top with some oats.

Bake it for 20 to 25 mins.

Remove it and let it cool for 10 mins.

Serve

Take all your ingredients
Take curd or yogurt in a bowl
add in salt and sugar
mix well
add in baking soda
mix well
now it has foamed up
look how foamy it looks
add in flour
mix well
now it is getting little dry
add a splash of milk
knead to a sticky dough
look how sticky the dough looks
grease hands with oil
take some dough
shape it roughly like a ball
place it in a well oiled baking pan
brush top with milk
sprinkle with oats
time to bake
now it is baked
serve
look how soft it looks

    Hi Aarthi,
    I tried dis..taste was really good..thanks fr such a easy Recepie..bt the top and bottom was hard it's not a soft single layer,and buns got cracked on top..Wat may be the reason?

    @Shami Hajruli think the dough was little tough. the dough has to be very soft and sticky. and before baking make the buns little flat. dont over bake

    Is it possible to make these buns using whole wheat flour instead of maida?

    @Asha Baskaru can make with wheat but it will be little denser
