    About Hummus Wrap (Vegan)

Veggie & hummus wrap is one of the easiest, healthiest and filling meals you can make in no time. It is ideal for a quick lunch, dinner or even a busy day meal. It is made with homemade wheat tortilla, creamy hummus, fresh vegetables and simple seasonings.

I used hummus as the spread in this wrap. Hummus is a Mediterranean dip made with chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. It is a protein rich creamy dip that makes the wrap more filling and delicious. You can use either store bought or flavoured hummus like roasted garlic, peri peri for extra taste.

This wrap looks colorful and a great delicious protein rich meal that keeps you full for longer. This wrap is loaded with crunchy fresh vegetables like carrot, capsicum, cucumber, onion and spring onion.

These vegetables add fresh taste, crunchy texture and flavour in every bite. And a sprinkle of red chilli flakes gives the wrap a mild spicy taste and balances all the flavours together.

One of the best things about this veggie hummus wrap is how versatile and adaptable it is. You can easily use any vegetables available at home and create different variations each time. For more protein, you could use cooked chicken or tofu.

You can also try flavoured hummus for more flavour. And also you can add cheese, olives, jalapenos or extra sauces to make the wrap more delicious and satisfying.

    • Hummus : You can use either store bought or flavoured hummus like roasted garlic, peri peri for extra taste.
    • Vegetables : Cucumber, carrot, capsicum, onion and spring onion are used as the filling of the wrap. You can use any filling of your choice like paneer, chicken or egg.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)Prepare all your vegetables. Make sure it is sliced very thinly in julienne for texture.

2)I used my homemade hummus for this recipe.

3)Now lets assemble the wrap. I used homemade wheat tortilla.

4)Spread a good amount of hummus over the tortilla.

5)Spread it evenly in a thin layer.

6)Now lets sprinkle over the vegetables. I used shredded cabbage, you can use lettuce or spinach.

    7)Arrange thin julienne of cucumber.

    8)Now thin julienne of carrots.

    11)Now spring onion greens.

12)You need to add a dash of salt.

13)add some red chilli flakes. You can even use any herbs of your choice.

    14)Now wrap them tightly.

15)I like to wrap them with some plastic wrap to secure the wrap. It also keeps the wrap fresh for longer period of time.

    16)Enjoy.

    Expert Tips

    • Warm the tortillas for a few seconds in tawa or in the microwave before making the wrap. This makes them soft and flexible to roll without breaking.
    • Spread the hummus evenly over the tortilla and leave a little space around the edges for easy rolling.
    • Slice the vegetables thinly to make the wrap easy to fold.
    • Avoid overfilling the wrap with too many vegetables. A balanced filling will prevent it from falling apart.
    • You can also add cheese slices or grated cheese for extra flavor.

    Storage and Serving

Veggie hummus wrap tastes best when served fresh because the vegetables need to stay crunchy. Store the wrap tightly covered with foil or parchment paper. It stays well in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days.

Serve the wrap with salad, nachos, chips, fries or soup for a complete and filling meal.

    FAQ

    Q. Can I use different fillings in the wrap ?

Absolutely ! You can add or swap vegetables with lettuce, spinach, avocado, egg, paneer, or chicken also works well.

    Q. What type of tortilla works for this recipe ?

Any tortilla can be used like corn tortilla, wheat, multigrain, spinach or even regular chapati, roti works perfectly as the base of the wrap.

    Q. Can I make the wrap spicy ?

Definitely ! You can add extra red chilli flakes, jalapenos, or spicy hummus to add extra heat and spicy flavour to the wrap.
