Paruppu Rasam Recipe / Dal Rasam Recipe


I have finally posted the last rasam recipe which i had in my draft. Including this i have 17 veg rasam recipes in this blog. This is leaving out the non veg rasam mutton rasam and chicken rasam. This shows my love for rasam. I make it atleast 3 times a week..So try this variation of paruppu rasam and let me know how it turned out for you.. 


Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 10 mins + 15 mins for cooking dal
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients:

Tomatoes - 1 large chopped finely
Green Chilli - 1 slit
Toor Dal / Tuvaram paruppu - 1/2 cup cooked
Tamarind Pulp - 2 tblspn
Garlic - 5 cloves crushed
Rasam Powder - 1 tblspn (i used store bought)
Salt to taste
Sugar - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tblspn finely chopped

For Seasoning:
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - 1/4 tsp
Dry Red Chilli - 1 broken

Method:

Take oil in a sauce pan, add in all the seasoning ingredients and fry them for 30 sec.

Now add in tomatoes and green chilli. Saute for couple of mins.

Add in salt, sugar and rasam powder. Mix well.

Add in water and tamarind pulp, crushed garlic cloves and mix well. Bring this to a boil.

Now add in cooked dal and bring it to boil.

Once it reaches a boil, turn off the heat and add coriander leaves.

Mix well and serve.

Take all your ingredients

some tamarind pulp


cooked toor dal


some crushed garlic


bring it to boil


add in coriander leaves


serve

    I especially loved the freezer friendly recipes you had posted because I am a working mom managing home , baby and work and I loved the rasam mix and onion tomato paste... Any other tips if you have please share...

  3. Hi Aarthi,i tried this rasam today ...using the rasam powder which i had prepared,different way of making simple rasam....or making rasam in a different way. your all recepies are good,followed with proper decription
    and picture
