Bitter Gourd Juice Recipe / Bitter Melon (Karela) Juice Recipe - Diabetic Juice Recipes

You know how healthy is bitter gourd for diabetic people. It is one of the best food which reduces sugar level in blood. I try to include bitter gourd in our diet atleast once a week. Mostly i cook them, i make them into pitlai, fry or curries. I have never thought of making a raw juice out of it, since it is very very bitter. But recently i came across this recipe and really liked it. So i decided to try it immediately for my MIL who is a diabetic patient.

This juice has apple, ginger, lemon juice and a green chilli in it. It also has a touch of salt added into it which actually reduces the bitter level and makes it more appetizing. I added a green apple, the tartness of that apple paired beautifully with the bittergourd. You can use normal red apples as well.

  1. I regularly take raw bitter melon
Rather than go through all the steps given, I scoop out the seeds, chop it into small pieces, add salt as required and a small piece of ginger chopped fine. Add a small cup of water and microwave for three minutes.
A small piece of dried narthangai oorugai added before microwaving adds flavor and taste

The fruits could change depending on what i have, it could be apple, pears, guava, fruits that are considered to be good for diabetes. I don't soak and squeeze out the bitterness for the Kerala. I add all these things along with some Himalayan salt/ black salt, a few pepper corns and very little bit of honey. Juice them in the mixie and strain it and.
