Brinjal Paruppu Kuzhambu Recipe / Brinjal & Drumstick Dal Gravy Recipe

This is one of the kulambu which i make often, the only thing i do is change the veggies added in this. It is so easy to make and you will love it for sure..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves : 4

Ingredients:

Brinjal – 1 chopped
Drumstick – 1 chopped
Tamarind Pulp – 1 tsp or to taste
Salt to taste


For Dal:
Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu – 1/2 cup
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Water – 1.5 cup

For Masala:
Coconut – 1/2 cup grated
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder / Malli Podi – 1 tblspn
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp

For Seasoning:
Coconut Oil – 1 tblspn
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp

Method:

Take dal in a pan, add water and turmeric. Bring it to boil, cover and simmer till the dal is cooked. Set aside.

Take the grinding masala ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine puree. Set aside.

Take brinjal and drumstick in a kadai, Add in little salt and water. Cook till the veggies are done.

Now add in dal, and mix well. Add in tamarind pulp and simmer for few more mins.

Add in masala and mix well. Bring it to boil.

Now make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard. POur this into the curry and mix well.

Serve.

Take dal in a sauce pan
cover with water
Add little turmeric
bring it to boil and simmer the pot and cook till dal is done
now the dal is cooked, set aside
take coconut in a blender
add in chilli and coriander powder
add in cumin seeds
add in turmeric powder
make it into a smooth puree
take tamarind in a bowl
cover with some water
mix well and set aside
chop brinjal and drumstick 
take it in a kadai
cover with water 
cook till veggies are done
add in dal
mix well
add in little salt and mix well
pour in tamarind
mix well
add in the coconut masala
mix well
bring it to a boil
now everything is done
make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard seeds in them, pour this in
mix well
serve
