    Surakkai Kuzhambu Recipe with step by step pictures. This sorakkai kuzhambu is made with Bottle Gourd and Puli Kuzhambu Podi.

    Surakkai Kuzhambu

    Its been a while since i posted any kuzhambu recipes. SO i made this yesterday and i am sharing it with you. I have posted so many kuzhambu recipes in my blog.

    This is a gravy which i made using bottle gourd and this vegetable is particularly very good for you, it is good for weight loss and has many benefits in them.

    Ingredients for Surakkai Kuzhambu

    • Bottle Gourd / Surakkai - 3 cups chopped
    • Shallots / Sambar Onion - 10 peeled
    • Garlic - 6 cloves peeled
    • Oil - 1 tblspn
    • Puli Kuzhambu Podi - 2 tblspn ( Recipe here)
    • Tamarind Pulp - 3 to 4 tblspn
    • Water - 2 cups
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar or Jaggery to taste
    For Seasoning:
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ¼ tsp
    • Curry leaves a spring

    How to make Sorakkai Kuzhambu

    1. Heat oil in a pan, add in seasoning ingredients and let them sizzle.
    2. Add in shallots and garlic. Saute for a min.
    3. Add in chopped lauki and saute for 5 mins.
    4. Add in tamarind pulp and mix well. Add in the spice powder and mix well.
    5. Add in water, salt, sugar and bring it to a boil. Simmer for 10 mins.
    6. Serve.

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 cups Bottle Gourd / Surakkai chopped
    • 10 Shallots / Sambar Onion peeled
    • 6 cloves Garlic peeled
    • 1 tablespoon Oil
    • 2 tablespoon Puli Kuzhambu Podi Recipe here
    • 3 to 4 tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
    • 2 cups Water
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar or Jaggery to taste
    • For Seasoning:
    • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
    • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
    • 1 teaspoon Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu

    Sorakkai Kuzhambu step by step pictures

     
     
    Take lauki, cut it in half, scoop the flesh
    cube it
    take your ingredients
    Heat oil and add in seasoning ingredients
    add in shallots and garlic
    saute for a min
    add in lauki
    saute for 5 mins
    add in tamarind pulp
    add in puli kuzhambu podi (Recipe here)
    pour in water
    season with salt and a touch of sugar
    mix well and cook for 10 mins
