Vellarikka Puli Curry
Amma is a expert in making pulikary. I have already shared a ladyfinger pulikari recipe in this blog, this is another recipe made with cucumber. Both are kind of similar recipe but taste so good. Perfect spicyness, tangyness and saltyness. Love it with hot rice.
Ingredients for Vellarikkai Puli Curry Recipe
- Cucumber - 1 medium size peeled, deseeded & cubed
- Ladys Finger / Okra - 2 chopped
- Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
- Coriander Powder / Malli Podi - 2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
- Cumin Powder / Jeera Podi - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind Pulp - 3 tbsp
- Fresh Coconut -½ cup grated
For Seasoning:
- Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli - 1
How to make Vellarikkai Puli Curry Recipe
- Take coconut in a blender and make it into a fine paste. Set aside till use.
- Take ladyfinger and cucumber in a kadai. Add in water and cook this for 10 mins or so, till the veggies are done.
- Now add in cumin, chilli, coriander, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
- Add in tamarind water and bring this to boil. Simmer for 5 mins or so.
- Now add in coconut paste and mix well. Bring this to a boil. Switch off the heat,
- Make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard seeds, urad dal and dry red chillies. Pour this over the gravy and mix well.
- Serve with rice.
