Soups are such a healthy way to include veggies and dals and whatever you want to give to your baby. Since it is in liquid form, your baby will love to have it. I have recently started giving soups to maha, i tried giving clear soups to her few months back, but she didn’t like it. She loves her soup when it is a little thick and creamy. So i add dals or potatoes whenever i make soup for her..If your baby has started their one year, then you can add milk in her soups..Will share different way of making soups in the coming session..

Things to remember when making soups:

1)Always wash your dals and spinach really well.

2)You can use any spinach of your choice, palak will make a great healthy soup too.

3)You could add any veggies in this, i will share a dal veg soup soon.

4)You can feed this soup in the evening, this makes a light before dinner meal for your baby.

5)If your baby need some taste in their food, you can add some salt too.

How to sterilize baby feeding bowls:

Start by sterilizing the bowls and spoons which you are going to feed your baby. Take the bowl and spoon in a large saucepan, cover it with water and bring them to a boil. Boil it rapidly for 5 mins. Now you can turn the heat off and leave them stay in the hot water till use.

How to Make Dal & Spinach Soup:

Ingredients:

Split Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu – 1 tblspn
Spinach Leaves – 2 handfuls (I used arai keerai)
Garlic – 1 fat clove
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi – a pinch
Water – 1 cup

Method:

Wash dal and spinach leaves well.

Take all the ingredients in a pressure cooker. Cook it for 5 whistle. Switch off the heat and let the pressure go all by itself.

Open the cooker, take the dal mix in a blender and make it into a smooth puree, add water if needed.

Pour into serving bowls and feed your baby using a spoon.
