    Ellu Sadam Recipe with step by step pictures. This Sesame Rice Recipe is an easy and delicious rice recipe made with ground sesame seeds. It is flavourful which can be made quickly and healthy too.

    Ellu Sadam Recipe

    During navaratri days, amma makes variety rice on each day and this recipe is one of them. I love the flavour of this rice, since it has peanuts they taste awesome. I used black sesame seed in the rice, so the colour is so black but you could use white.

    Ingredients for Ellu Sadam Recipe (Sesame Rice Recipe)

    • Rice - 1 cup
    • Salt to taste

    For Sesame Powder:

    • Oil - 1 tsp
    • Roasted Peanut - 2 tbsp
    • Sesame Seeds / Til / Ellu - 6 tbsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 3
    • Coconut - 2 tbsp
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ½ tsp

    For Seasoning:

    • Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - ½ tsp
    • Curry leaves - 1 spring

    How to Make Ellu Sadam Recipe (Sesame Rice Recipe)

    1. Take 1 cup rice in a pressure cooker, cover with 2.5 cup of water and pressure cook rice for 2 whistle and simmer for 5 mins.
    2. Switch off the flame and let the steam go all by itself.
    3. Now fluff the rice with for and allow it to cool down.
    4. Start by making sesame seed powder.
    5. Heat oil and add in sesame seeds and toast them for a min.
    6. Now add in peanuts and fry them for 30 sec till they are light golden.
    7. Now add in dry red chilli, coconut and asafoetida, Fry them together for couple of mins.
    8. Once everything is nice and toasted, take them in a blender and make into a rough powder.
    9. Now heat 1 tbsp oil and add the seasoning ingredients, let them splatter for a min.
    10. Add in rice and salt mix well.
    11. Add in sesame seeds powder and mix well.
    12. Once everything is heated through. Turn off the heat and serve.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Rice
    • Salt to taste
    • For Sesame Powder:
    • 1 tsp Oil
    • 2 tbsp Roasted Peanut

    now powder this
     
     

     

    sesame seed powder done
     
     

     

    heat oil
     
     

     

    add in seasoning ingredients
     
     

     

    fry for 30 sec
     
     

     

    add in rice
     
     
    season with salt
     
     

     

    mix well
     
     

     

    add in powder
     
     

     

    now mix well
     
     

     

    let everything warm up
