Eclairs or Classic Chocolate Eclairs Recipe with step wise pictures. Crispy choux pastry filled with an eggless pastry cream and coated in melted chocolate.

    Eclairs Recipe

This is a delicious french dessert which is so easy to make and taste so amazing. This unique dessert is not only easy to make but is fantastic when served on a party.

    About Chocolate Eclairs Recipe

Éclairs are a type of pastry that originated in France. They are long, oblong pastries made with choux pastry dough, which is light and airy. The dough is piped into a log shape and baked until it puffs up and becomes hollow on the inside. After baking, éclairs are filled with various creamy fillings and topped with icing or ganache.

Traditionally, éclairs are filled with vanilla or chocolate pastry cream, but there are countless variations available today. The fillings can include flavors like coffee, caramel, fruit, or even savory options like cheese or salmon. The toppings can range from a simple chocolate glaze to more elaborate decorations and garnishes.

Éclairs are commonly served as a dessert or as a sweet treat with tea or coffee. They are enjoyed in many countries around the world and have become a popular pastry in bakeries and patisseries.

The name "éclair" comes from the French word for lightning, possibly because they are said to disappear as quickly as a flash of lightning due to their delicious taste. Éclairs are known for their delicate texture, creamy fillings, and delectable flavors, making them a favorite among pastry lovers worldwide.

    Ingredients for Chocolate Eclairs

    Choux Pastry

Choux pastry is made with water, milk, butter and all purpose flour.  Milk adds richness and flavor to the pastry. Eggs helps to Bind the ingredients together and help the pastry rise in the oven.

    Pastry Cream

Traditional pastry cream has Egg Yolks which Add richness and contribute to the custard-like consistency of the filling. But in this recipe, I have used a combination of cornstarch and all purpose flour which helps thicken the filling to a creamy consistency and vanilla adds flavor and aroma to the filling.

    Chocolate Ganache Topping

Semisweet or Bittersweet Chocolate which Provides a rich and chocolatey topping.
