    Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe

A very basic sponge cake recipe which is so soft and fluffy sponge cake recipe which is super easy to make but taste so delicious and soft. I have been wanting a proper sponge cake recipe and finally i found one. This sponge cake is super basic and super easy to make. It calls for very basic ingredients.

When i found this recipe, I actually halved the recipe and made a very small cake which has less height. But the written recipe which i have given is the actual cake and gives a standard round cake.

    About Vanilla Sponge Cake

Sponge cake is a light cake made from egg whites, flour, and sugar, with the addition of baking powder if desired. Sponge cakes, which are leavened with beaten eggs, are thought to have originated in Spain during the Renaissance. One of the first non-yeasted cakes is believed to be the sponge cake. There is no fat in the basic whipped sponge cake. Egg whites and caster sugar are whisked together, then flour is softly folded in. The secret to a soft, spongy cake is in the beating of eggs and butter mixture. The rise depends heavily on the amount of air incorporated during the whisking stage.

    Vanilla Sponge Cake Ingredients

Egg : Eggs must be beaten to aerate in order for the cake to be light and fluffy.

Melted Butter: In place of the oil called for in a boxed cake mix, you can substitute melted butter. However, it will alter the cake. You'll end up with a firmer cake than if you used oil. The cake will also have a butterier flavour than if it were made with oil. As long as you use the same amount of melted butter as you would oil, the recipe will
    not be ruined.

Vinegar : Vinegar increases the acidity of cake batter, which causes the proteins in the flour to firm the cake as it bakes. This produces a cake that is both fluffy and moist.

Just for a confirmation. You are not using baking powder or baking soda or self raising flour right ?
