This is one kabab which i wanted to make for so long, whenever i have spinach on hand i run out of peas and when i have peas, i just have no spinach on hand. Finally one day i had both ingredients on hand and immediately with no delay i made it. I serve it for lunch and it was delicious.

This is so good and a guilt free snack because it used very very less oil, frankly you dont need to deep fry these, this kabab is meant to be pan fried with few drops of oil. I have another version of stuffed kabab will be sharing it another time..

Cooking Time : 15 to 20 mins
Makes: 10 to 12 kabab
Oil – 1 tsp + 1 tblspn for making kabab
Cinnamon / Pattai – 1 small piece
Cardamom / Yelakai – 2
Cloves / Krambu – 2
Cumin Seeds / Jeera – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chillies – 2
Onion – 1 medium size chopped
Ginger – 1 tblspn chopped
Garlic – 1 tblspn chopped
Green Chillies – 1 or 2
Peas – 1 cup ( I used frozen)
Spinach – 4 cups
Potato – 1 cooked, peeled and mashed
Gram Flour / Besan / Kadalai Mavu – 2 to 3 tblspn
Chat Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Breadcrumbs – 3 tblspn or as needed
Take spinach in a pan, cover with water and let it cook for 5 mins till it is wilted. Now strain it and chop it really finely. Set aside till use
Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add in all whole spices and saute for a min.
Add in onions, garlic, ginger, chillies and saute for a min.
Add in peas, spinach and toss well.
Add in besan and toss well for 2 mins till it is fried.
Add in potatoes and mix well.
Cool it and take it in a blender, pulse it few times till it is coarsely blended.
Remove to a bowl, add in salt, chat masala and breadcrumbs if needed.
Take small portion and shape it into ball. Flatten it lightly..
Put it in lightly oiled tawa and pan fry till golden on both sides
Remove and serve with ketchup or red chutney.

|add in water|
|cook uncovered for few mins till it is cooked..Strain it and chop it finely|
|Take all your ingredients|
|Heat a tsp of oil in a pan, add in cumin, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and dry red chillies|
|saute for a min|
|add in ginger and garlic|
|add in onions|
|add in chillies|
|saute for a min|
|Add in peas and cooked choped spinach|
|Now add in gram flour or besan|
|Fry for few mins, so the gram flour is cooked well|
|Add in potatoes|
|Cool this and take it in a blender|
|pulse few times so it is well mixed..Dont grind it, you have to pulse it|
|take it in a bowl|
|add in salt and chat masala powder|
|Take it in a bowl|
|Add in breadcrumbs|
|Take a small portion|
|Roll it into a smooth ball|
|Heat a pan, put kabab in|
|let it cook till the bottom is well browned|
|Cook for few more mins|
