What do you think about this combination..This is one of the best combo in foods..Tapioca is one of the vegetable which falls under the category love it or leave it..If you love it like me,then this dish is heavenly for you…But if you hate it, sorry you are missing something, that’s all I can say..

I made a garlicky spicy chutney to go along with this..I added some coconut oil which made the chutney less spicy and so flavourful..Amma make this chutney by grinding shallots, garlic and dry red chilli along with salt..You could try it that way too..
There is another one dish which goes perfectly with this tapioca..It is fish curry. The fish curry which you make for this is not the one which you add coconut or something like that, It is made little tangy by adding tamarind and curry leaves..I will surely post it some day..
So here you go for the recipe..
Ingrediants:
For Seasoned Tapioca:
Tapioca / Marchini Kilangu / Kuchikezhangu / Kappakezhangu / Cassava – 1 kg
Mustard Seed / Kaduku -1 tsp
Urad Dal / Ulundu – 1tsp
Dry Red Chilli – 2
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Salt to taste
Oil- 1 tsp
For Green Chilli Chutney:
Green Chilli – 4
Garlic – 4
Salt to taste
Coconut Oil – 3 tblspn
Method:
For Seasoned Tapioca:
Peel the outer hard skin of the tapioca and cut into bite sized pieces. Put it in a colander and wash it well.
Take it in a saucepan and cover it with water.Add salt to taste and bring this to a boil. Simmer this for 20-25 mins or untill the tapioca is cooked through. Drain it and set aside.
Now make seasoning by heating 1 tsp of oil and add in mustard and urad dal. After it crackles add in dry red chilli and curry leaves. Mix well.
Add the boiled tapioca and mix well. Adjust the seasoning and remove into a bowl.
Serve it with green chilli Chutney
For Green Chilli Chutney:
Take green chilli, garlic and salt in a blender and grind it roughly. Now add in coconut oil and mix well. Serve this with tapioca..

Pictorial:
Take all your ingrediants for tapioca..You will need some oil too..
My Friend got me this lovely fresh tapioca…Thanks shabi for this..
Prepare them by peeling and chopping them
Heat water in a sauce pan
add salt in that
add tapioca
cover and cook
untill done
drain it and set aside
now make seasoning by heating oil
add mustard and urad dal
add dry red chilli
add some curry leaves
and fry for some sec
now add boiled tapioca in this
and mix well
Serve as it is..Or you could go a little ahead and do like me..
Make a simple green chilli chutney
take green chilli in a blender
add garlic
salt
and crush it
now add a good amount of coconut oil in this
and mix well
Now serve this with tapioca
YUM YUM Right
These are the best combo ever
You will get lost i can tell you that..

Fresh tapioca! I am not sure I can even get my hands on that, but your dish sure does look good. I do need to expand my range of cuisine and this looks like a great thing to start with. I will need to seek out some tapioca. Great step by step pictures!

Hey aarthi, when i started seeing your blog i had noted that you were a tamilian. when I saw today's recipe, i suddenly had a doubt. cause this is very typical of kerala, especially when you mentioned the combo with fish curry. then i again checked your about page. you are from nagercoil. hence the recipes are very similar to what we make in trivandrum 🙂 I love kappa in the form. we add a little coconut also to this.

I love cassava cooked this way. In the Caribbean we have a version and call it "boil and fry" 🙂

Based on your photos this looks very good. I've never eaten cassava, I think it is similar to potato.
Going to try this when I get some cassava.
