Spicy Bread Biryani Recipe – Leftover Bread Recipes

This is a recipe which i make very often, but i never thought of sharing it here. Finally i made it few days back for dinner. I decided to take pictures as well so i can share it here. Sorry for the poor quality pictures since it is at night i couldn’t take good pics. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 35 to 40 mins
Serves : 2 to 3

Ingredients:

Oil – 2 tblspn
Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf – 1 tblspn
Cinnamon / Pattai – 1 small stick
Onion or Leek – 1 medium size chopped finely
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tblspn
Carrot – 1 medium size chopped
Capsicum – 1 medium size chopped
Tomatoes – 2 large chopped
Green Chillies – 2 chopped
Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tblspn
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 2 tsp
Bread Slices – 6 to 7
Coriander Leaves – 3 tblspn finely chopped
Mint Leaves – 3 tblspn finely chopped
Yogurt / Curd – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Sugar – 1 tsp
Water – 1 cup

Method:

Toast your bread in a toaster or in oven or in tawa. Cut into pieces and set aside.

Heat oil in a nonstick kadai. Add in cinnamon and fennel seeds and let them sizzle.

Now add in onions, chillies and saute till golden.

Add in ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell leaves.

Add in tomatoes and season with salt and sugar. Cook till tomatoes turn mushy.

Add in spice powders and mix well. Add in veggies and mix well.

Pour in a cup of water, simmer the pan and cook covered for 10 mins on low heat till veggies are done.

Now add in yogurt, coriander and mint leaves and mix well.

Now add in the bread pieces and toss well.

Cover with a lid and simmer it for 5 mins.

Serve.

toast your bread slices
toast till it is golden and crispy

do for all the bread slices and set aside
heat oil in a kadai. add in fennel and cinnamon
i had some leeks so added that in, you can add some onions
saute well
add in ginger garlic paste
once it is cooked, add in tomatoes and chillies
season with salt
cook till tomatoes turn mushy
add in all the spice powders
cook for a min or so
add in capsicum and carrots
toss well
pour in some water
mix well..
cover and simmer till done
season with some salt and sugar
mix well
add in yogurt or curd
mix well
bring it to a boil
add mint and coriander leaves
add in bread slices
toss well
cover and simmer for 5 mins
toss well
garnish with some more coriander leaves
serve with raita

    wonderful recipe.. can bread b done like tis also…??? i wonder on seeing ur cooking skill and innovative skill… l surely make a try…
    shal v use any kund of bresd ??? any other veggies like peas carrrot beans???
