    Veppam Poo Rasam Recipe with step by step pictures. This neem flower rasam is a natural cleanser as it effectively purifies blood and removes toxins from our body. It goes well with some steamed rice.

    Veppam Poo Rasam

    Neem Flower / Veppam Poo is one of the medicinal ingredient. It helps in digestion and cleans stomach. Try to include it in your diet atleast once a week.

    Ingredients for Veppam Poo Rasam

    • Dry Neem Flower / Veppam Poo- 1 tbsp
    • Tamarind a small gooseberry size
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar - ½ tsp
    • Water - 2 cup

    For Seasoning:

    • Ghee - 1 tsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - ½ tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - ½ tsp
    • Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu - ½ tsp
    • Urad Dal / Ulundu Paruppu - ½ tsp
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - a pinch
    • Dry Red Chilli - 3 broken
    • Curry leaves a handful

    How to Make Veppam Poo Rasam

    1. Soak tamarind in water for 10 mins. Squeeze and strain the water. Set aside.
    2. Dry roast neem flower in a pan for 2 to 3 mins. Set aside.
    3. Heat ghee in a pan, add in all the seasoning ingredients. Fry for a min.
    4. Pour in tamarind water, salt, sugar and bring it to a boil.
    5. Once it boils, add in neem flower and turn off the heat.
    6. Serve with rice.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tbsp Dry Neem Flower / Veppam Poo
    • Tamarind a small gooseberry size
    • Salt to taste
    • ½ tsp Sugar
    • 2 cups Water
    • For Seasoning:
    • 1 tsp Ghee
    • ½ tsp Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
    • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
    • ½ tsp Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu
    • ½ tsp Urad Dal / Ulundu Paruppu
    • a pinch Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi
    • 3 broken Dry Red Chilli
    • Curry leaves a handful

    Veppam Poo Rasam Recipe Step by Step

     
    Take all your ingredients
    Take tamarind in a bowl
    Cover with water and soak it for 10 mins
    Now squeeze the pulp from tamarind and strain the juice
    This is dried neem flower
    dry roast them in a pan till it smells good
    set aside
    heat ghee in a pan
    Add in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal and toor dal
    add in broken dry red chillies
     little asafoetida
    add a little curry leaves
    Saute for a min
    Now it has turned golden
    Pour the tamarind juice
     
    Add in little salt and sugar
    mix well
    bring it to a boil
    now add in neem flower and turn off the heat
    Serve with rice..
