    Whole Wheat English Muffins

    English muffins is one of the recipe which i wanted to try for a very long time. One day i decided to make a hawaiian chicken burger, but i ran out of buns, that time i decided to make buns from scratch what i want is a different style of bun which is made without oven. Finally i came to know that english muffins can be made on a tawa and i made it, it turned out beautifully. Loved it to the core..

    Ingredients for Whole Wheat English Muffins

    • Wheat Flour / Atta - 1.5 cup
    • Milk Powder - 1.5 tbsp
    • Dry Yeast - 1 tsp
    • Honey or Sugar - 1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil - 1 tbsp (I used olive oil)
    • Water as needed

    (My 1 cup measures 240 ml)

     
    I made it using whole wheat flour so it is double healthy. Will share a traditional version very soon..

    How to Make Whole Wheat English Muffins

    1. Take warm water, yeast and honey in a jug, mix well and set aside for 5 min so the yeast is all bubbly and activated.
    2. Take flour, milk powder, salt, oil in a bowl and mix well.
    3. Pour the yeast water and knead it to a soft dough.
    4. Roll the dough using a rolling pin into thick circle.
    5. Cut into small rounds using a cutter..
    6. Place each cut out dough in a plate and let it rise for 1 hour till it is doubled in size.
    7. Place each of them in a dry pan and cook for 7 to 8 mins on one side, flip over and cook for 5 more mins.
    8. Now remove them and serve warm.

    Ingredients

    English Muffins Recipe Step by Step

    Take all your ingredients
    Add yeast into warm water
    Drizzle in some honey..Mix and set this aside for 5 mins
    Take wheat flour in a bowl
    Add in some milk powder

     

    add in some salt

     

    drizzle in some oil
    mix well
    Pour the yeast liquid
    knead it to a soft dough
    take the dough
    Roll it into pretty thick circle
    Actually i made it little thinner..You can roll it
    little thicker than this
    cut into circles
     
    Place it in a plate which is dusted with some flour
     
     
    cover and let it rise for a hour or so
    slowly take them and place it in a dry nonstick pan and cook on low heat for 7 to 8 mins
    flip over and cook for 5 more mins
    Remove them
    Serve

      Hi Aarathi can I mix the yeast in warm milk and so replace the milk powder with fresh milk

      Hi Aarathi why isn't there a search the blog option now.. I always use to type in what ingredients I had and select a recipe from the drop down list..Please add that option back. It was really helpful

      Hi! How much water do you use with the yeast and honey? It just says "water as needed" but I'm thinking it's important! Thank you! 🙂
