The cake was so moist, fudgy, the mousse was very chocolaty and creamy. Alltogether it is a fool proof recipe and it is a keeper..

Hope you will this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

Preheat oven to 180 Degree C.

Take butter in a sauce pan, melt it down, add in cocoa powder and mix well. Add in boiling water and let it boil for few sec. Take it off the heat and set aside.

Take eggs in a bowl, add in buttermilk, vanilla and baking soda. Mix well and Set aside.

Take flour, salt, sugar in a large bowl. Mix well.

Pour in the hot cocoa mix and give a gentle mix.

Add in egg mix and fold gently.

Divide the batter between two cake pans and bake for 20 to 30 mins. Insert a toothpick to check whether the cake is done. If it comes clean then it is baked.

Remove the cake from oven and leave aside to cool a bit.

Invert the cake, peel off the parchment and set aside to cool completely.

When the cake is cooling, make the chocolate mousse.

Now take one of the round pan, line it with plastic wrap, place a cake in it, spread the mousse over it, place another cake over it, chill in the fridge for 15 mins.

Now remove the cake carefully. Spread the mousse all over the cake.

Now take your chocolate sauce, pour it over the cake and top the cake with chocolate shavings.

Chill the cake overnight. Serve.

Take your ingredients for the cake

Start by preparing the cake pan

I used a removable bottom pan..So i just greased it alone, If you are using a normal pan, just line the bottom with parchment and grease it well.

Drizzle some oil in

grease it well and set aside.

Bring 1 cup of water to a good boil

Take butter in a sauce pan

Melt it down

add in cocoa powder

give and good mix

Pour in the hot water and let it bubble for 20 sec or so..
Take it off the heat and set aside.

Take eggs in a bowl

add in vanilla

pour in some buttermilk

add in baking soda

mix well and set aside

Take flour in a bowl

add in sugar

add in salt

mix well

pour the chocolate mix in

mix gently

pour in egg mix

fold gently

Pour into baking pans

Bake till done..Let the cakes cool a bit

While the cakes are cooling, i made a batch of chocolate mousse..RECIPE HERE

Remove the cakes from the pan, let it cool completely

now take the same removable base pan, if you dont have that,
just line the base of the pan with plastic wrap or foil

Place a cake in the bottom..

Spoon generously the dark chocolate mousse

spread it out evenly

Now place the other cake over it....
Let it set for 15 mins in fridge
now remove them

Spoon the mousse over the top

spread it all over the cake

Then i took my readymade chocolate topping

poured it out in a cup

pour it over the cake

Be generous

Look at that
I shaved some chocolates

Topped the whole cake with it

Chill the cake for a while and serve
