Punjabi Kadhi Pakora Recipe - Kadhi Pakoda Recipe


This dish is on my mind for quite a long time..I have made it before, but didn't take pictures.. I love kadi pakora so much..They are so delicious..Finally i made it today and it turned out just yummy as it is normally.

The main thing you have to remember is to use sour yogurt for this. Sour yogurt makes this so tasty and gives that sour note..

Preparation Time : 15 mins
Cooking Time : 45 to 50 mins
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

For Pakora:
Gram Flour / Besan / Kadalai Mavu - 1 cup
Onion - 1 medium size chopped finely
Potatoes - 1 medium size peeled and chopped finely
Green Chillies - 1 chopped finely
Coriander Leaves - a handful finely chopped
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - 1 tsp
Water - 1/4 cup
Oil for Deep Frying

For Kadhi:
Oil - 2 tblspn
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds / Methi / Vendayam - 1/2 tsp
Dry Red Chilli -2 broken into small pieces
Ginger - 1 tblspn finely chopped
Green Chillies - 1 chopped finely
Sour Yogurt - 1.5 cup
Gram Flour / Besan / Kadalai Mavu - 1.5 tblspn
Water - 1.5 cup
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves a handful finely chopped

Method:

Take all ingredients for pakora and mix well. Heat oil for deep frying, drop pakora in and fry till golden. Drain and set aside.

Now take yogurt, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder in a bowl and whisk well. Now add in water and make it thin.

Now heat oil in a kadai, add in mustard, cumin, fenugreek seeds. Sizzle for a  min.

Now add in dry red chillies, ginger and chillies and saute for a min.,

Add in the kadhi mix in and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, simmer it for 5 mins.

Now add in pakora and simmer for another 5 mins,.

Add in coriander leaves and mix well.

Serve.

Take gram flour in a bowl


add in chilli powder, salt, cooking soda


add in onions and chillies


add in coriander leaves and potatoes


mix well


slowly add water and make it to a thick mixture


Now it is done


Heat oil for deep frying


Take spoonful of batter


Pour it in and fry till golden


flip over and Deep fry till golden 


drain them and set aside..BTW these taste fantastic on its own


Now take your ingredients for kadhi


The yogurt has to be sour


Add in gram flour


Whisk till no lumps are formed


Add in salt, chilli powder


Add in turmeric powder


Add little more water


Whisk well till smooth


Now heat oil in a pan..


add in mustard, cumin and fenugreek


let them sizzle for a min


add in dry chillies


add in ginger and chillies


Mix well


pour the gram flour yogurt mix in


Keep mixing


Mix well


Now i switched it to a whisk


Bring it to a  boil


Simmer for 5 more mins


Add pakora in


let it simmer for 5 to 7 mins


Now it is almost done


add in coriander leaves


Mix well


Serve


This taste great with hot steamed rice..
