Onion Rava Dosa Recipe - Rava Dosa using Wheat Flour

Rava dosa is my all time favourite. I love it so much, that i make it atleast once a week. I love to serve it with chutney and sambar.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Serves: 4 to 6


Sooji / Rava - 1/2 cup
Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
Wheat Flour / Atta - 1/4 cup
Black Pepper - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves a handful
Ginger - 2 tsp chopped finely
Green Chillies - 1 chopped finely
Onion - 1/2 cup chopped finely
Coriander leaves a handful chopped finely
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil for pan frying


Mix all ingredients except oil to a smooth batter. Let it sir for 10 mins.

Now add more water to make the batter very liquidy.

Now heat a dosa pan. Pour a ladleful of batter from a height so it forms lots of holes.

Now sprinkle onions and coriander leaves on top. Drizzle with oil and let it cook on medium flame till it crisp up.

Now fold and serve.

take sooji in a bowl

add rice flour

add wheat flour

add cumin and pepper

add curry leaves

add salt

add ginger and green chillies

add water

mix well

set this batter aside for 10 mins

now add more water

mix well

add onions and coriander leaves

mix well
the batter has to be liquidy

heat a tawa, pour the batter from a height

so lots of small holes form on the dosa

drizzle oil around the sides

top with more onions and coriander leaves..let it cook till golden

fold and serve



  1. Is the sooji heated/fried first?

    1. no it is just regular sooji. you can use roasted or unroasted as you like

  2. I try this taste is good but it will be stick with dosai tava what i do
