    Poha Sundal Recipe

    Poha Sundal Recipe with Step by Step pictures. Aval Sundal or Poha Sundal is made with poha, chickpeas which are seasoned with spices and coconut.

    Poha Sundal

    This is a variety of sundal or upma which i made yesterday for navrathri and offered as prasadam to lord. You can make this and serve as breakfast too.

    Ingredients for Poha Sundal

    • Poha / Aval - 3 cups
    • Cooked Chana (chickpeas) - 1 cup
    • Water - ½ cup to ¾ cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    • Oil - 1 tblspn
    • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2 broken
    • Green Chilli - 1 chopped finely
    • Curry leaves a sprig
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
    • Coconut - ½ cup grated

    How to Make Aval Sundal

    1. Take poha in a bowl, Add in water and mix well. Let it sit for 5 mins.Add salt and turmeric to it and mix well.
    2. Heat oil in a pan, crackle all seasoning from mustard till asafoetida and let it sizzle.
    3. Add in channa and toss well.
    4. Add poha and toss well.
    5. Garnish with coconut and mix well.
    6. Serve.

    Take poha in a bowl

     

    add water

     

    mix well and set aside for 5 mins

     

    add salt and turmeric

     

    mix well

     

    heat oil in a pan, add mustard and urad dal

     

    add dry chilli, green chilli and curry leaves

     

    asafoetida

     

    let it sizzle

     

    add channa

     

    toss well

     

    add the poha mix

     

    toss well

     

    add coconut

     

    toss well
