    Green Gram Sweet Sundal Recipe with step by step pictures. Sundal made using green gram is so healthy and also nutritious along with jaggery is rich in Iron.

    Green Gram Sweet Sundal

    This is one recipe which we make quite often. But not everytime we add jaggery into this. We make it without any sweetness and add some sugar while eating. I will post the savoury version soon. For now i am giving you the traditional way of making this sweet sundal.

    Ingredients for Green Gram Sweet Sundal Recipe

    • Green Gram / Pacha Payaru - 1 cup
    • Jaggery / Sarkarai - 1 tbsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Coconut - 3 tablespoon grated

    For Tempering:

    • Oil - 1 tsp
    • Mustard seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2 cut into small pieces
    • Curry leaves - 1 spring

    How to Make Green Gram Sweet Sundal Recipe

    1. Soak green gram in lots of water overnight or up to 8 hours.
    2. Drain them and add it to a sauce pan. Cover it with water, simmer the pan and cook for 15 to 20 mins till it is completely cooked.
    3. Drain them and set aside.
    4. Make jaggery syrup. Take jaggery and add a splash of water. Boil it till the jaggery is melted. Strain and set aside.
    5. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in the seasoning ingredients and saute for a min.
    6. Now add in cooked dal and salt. Mix well.
    7. Pour in jaggery water and cook on high heat till the water is absorbed by the dal.
    8. Now add in grated coconut and mix well.
    9. Serve.

    Ingredients

    Green Gram Sweet Sundal Recipe Step by Step

    Soak green gram overnight
    Now add them to a sauce pan and fill with water
    cook till tender
    Take all your ingredients
    Now make jaggery syrup
    boil jaggery and water till it is melted
    strain..Dont stare at my broken strainer 🙂
    Syrup done
    heat oil
    add in tempering items
    saute for a while
    add in cooked dal
    season with salt
    mix well
    pour in jaggery syrup
    let it cook
    now it is getting delicious
    all absorbed
    add in coconut
    mix well
    Serve
