    Beetroot & Radish Poriyal Recipe with step by step picture. This is made with Beetroot and White Radish perfect for onam sadya.

     

    Beetroot & Radish Poriyal

    This is simple mezhukkupuratti recipe. I shared this so you can make this for onam instead of normal poriyal.. I will soon share the whole list of onam recipes, so stay tuned for it.

    Ingredients for Beetroot & Radish Poriyal

    • Beetroot - 1 peeled and chopped into small pieces
    • White Radish / Mullangi - 1 peeled and chopped into small pieces
    • Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
    • Salt to taste
    • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
    • Fresh Coconut - ½ cup grated
     
     

    How to make Beetroot & Radish Poriyal

    1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard seeds and urad dal. Let them splatter. Add in curry leaves and mix well.
    2. Add in chopped veggies and some salt. Mix well till raw smell leaves away.
    3. Cover and cook on a very low heat till the veggies are cooked.
    4. Add in chilli powder and mix well.
    5. Add in coconut and toss on high heat for couple of mins.
    6. Serve.

    Take a beetroot and radish
    Peel them
    chop them
    Heat coconut oil in a kadai
    mustard seeds and urad dal
    add in some curry leaves
    Add in prepared veggies
    Toss well in the oil
    add in some salt
    saute till raw smell leaves from it
    cover and simmer on a very low heat till the veggies are cooked
    now the veggies are cooked and shrinked
    add in some chilli powder
    mix well
    add in some grated coconut
    fry for a couple of mins
    serve
