Beetroot & Radish Poriyal
This is simple mezhukkupuratti recipe. I shared this so you can make this for onam instead of normal poriyal.. I will soon share the whole list of onam recipes, so stay tuned for it.
Ingredients for Beetroot & Radish Poriyal
- Beetroot - 1 peeled and chopped into small pieces
- White Radish / Mullangi - 1 peeled and chopped into small pieces
- Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Salt to taste
- Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
- Fresh Coconut - ½ cup grated

How to make Beetroot & Radish Poriyal
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard seeds and urad dal. Let them splatter. Add in curry leaves and mix well.
- Add in chopped veggies and some salt. Mix well till raw smell leaves away.
- Cover and cook on a very low heat till the veggies are cooked.
- Add in chilli powder and mix well.
- Add in coconut and toss on high heat for couple of mins.
- Serve.

Its a nice combo!!! You should call it thoran. In mezhukkupuratti we wont add coconut..
