Chana dal sundal is one of the most easy and delicious sundal to make. Amma makes this often than other sundal. It is simple and easy to make as well.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Soaking Time : 4 hours
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Fresh Coconut - ½ cup grated
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
Curry leaves a sprig
Ginger - 1 tsp chopped finely
Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
Wash and soak chana dal for 4 hours. Drain and take them in a sauce pan, cover with water and cook for 5 mins till it is cooked completely. Drain and set aside.
Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dal and let them sizzle. Add in asafoetida and mix well.
Add in ginger, green chilli and curry leaves and let them sizzle.
Add in turmeric powder and mix well.
Add chana dal, salt and coconut and toss well.
|Take chana dal in a bowl|
|add water and soak for 4 hours|
|now it is done|
|take it in a sauce pan|
|cover with water|
|cook till it is done|
|press a dal, it should mash easily|
|take all other ingredients|
|heat oil in a pan|
|add mustard, urad dal, ginger, curry leaves and green chillies|
|now it is all done|
|add some turmeric powder|
|add cooked chana dal|
